We were lucky to catch up with Jalissa Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jalissa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
I show my customers appreciation by giving them their own personal discount code for supporting me throughout the years; or I send a gift with recent purchase to show appreciation. I send out a Holiday card to all of my customers once a year. These little gestures makes people feel good and you never know it could’ve been the highlight of their day. As a small business owner I know their are so many other places people can shop and I’m appreciative of them choosing my business.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am the owner of Passion Lily Boutique. We are an online business and we do local vendor events to promote our website. We started in the mist of Covid 19 back in 2020 due to the pandemic shutting down hair salons. Back then I was a stylist. I had to figure out a new way to take care of my kids and I decided to go into business for myself. Honestly it was the best decision I’ve ever made. No one can take this from me it has become a life long journey. I am now juggling both my online business and I am a Cosmetology Instructor .
What sets my business apart from others; I feel I know my niche and I make sure I market specifically and with intention. My pieces are hand picked with love. I look for unique items that appeals to younger and older generations. I am very grateful for customers who have been supporting for the past three years!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I built my reputation by staying consistent. Hosting vendor events. I market on all platforms and via emails. And furthermore Im always available for customers to reach out and ask questions.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective methods is word of mouth. I network and promote my business everywhere I go:
