We were lucky to catch up with Jalisa Greene recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jalisa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Naming a business is hard, but it’s a very fun process. I wanted to have a name that would stand out, that didn’t directly correlate with what the business offers. As we continue to grow who knows what other things may become a part of the business, so I wanted to have a name that could speak to almost anything. In the midst of naming the company I had also been doing a bunch of research on language and how integral Latin is to many modern languages, so I thought it important to include it in some way.
The beginning of my hospitality career was based in restaurant work and I’ll always love food, so it’s still a passion point for me. The pairing of those things brought about Rara Reserva, it translates to The Rare Reservation. Which speaks volumes to the way I do business; anything we produce will be Rare, in that we don’t want to mimic what anyone else is doing, we’ll always have our own twist on things. And in essence you make a reservation when you choose to book our services.
All in all it was important to stand out, and even being able to tell the story of how our name came about had to have meaning!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
It all started in a hospitality class with my classmates talking about what we were going to do with these hospitality degrees when we finished. We all had big plans and ultimately our collective trajectory took us all in very different directions. A very good friend and I have had an event planning business for 10 years and had an amazing time curating events for our clients. In the midst of those 10 years, I’ve been a restaurant manager, catering manager, bartender, and I dabbled in education sales as well. Clearly my professional trajectory took me to many different places and I wanted to pivot. That pivot brought me here, to RaRa Reserva!
We curate events of all shapes, sizes, and styles. Whether an intimate gathering at home or a grand event, we’d like to think of ourselves as celebration mixologists; curating delicious experiences that leave lasting impressions. We’ve done everything from themed events at home (taco/game night), to Bachelor/Bachelorette Parties, Weddings, Conferences, and Sporting Events.
Our approach is rooted in the belief that every event is a unique story waiting to be told. We don’t just follow trends; we craft them. We personalize every aspect of your event, ensuring it stands out from the ordinary expectation. On more than one occasion, we’ve had to double as attendants and coordinators, which allows us to step inside the magic with our clients. At the heart of it all, our dedication to making a thought into reality is what truly sets us apart. The way we seek to build relationships with our clients, and those that attend our exclusive events is what we’re most proud of. The essence of who you are, or who we are is the star at every turn of our interactions with you.
Our identity is built on a foundation of trust, creativity, and a deep commitment to our clients. Our brand has a relentless pursuit of satisfaction. We want those being introduced to our brand or even considering working with us to know that, and be confident in their decisions because of that.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
It’s all in the relationships! From our initial interaction, we’ll asses how frequently you both need to and desire to hear from us and we don’t let up from there. Whether it’s following up on anniversaries, birthdays, and other special days we’re there. Once we’ve worked together; we’d like to foster a continued relationship for any future needs you have, invite you to our exclusive events and aid your network in any way we can. In any instance there’s a way we can help one another.
Any advice for managing a team?
Live the values you expect everyone else to! Asking people to prescribe to your businesses core values/mission is fine but if you don’t exude them yourself, that’s a hard ask. Morale directly speaks to confidence and enthusiasm and as a leader you play an integral role in that! You maintain high morale by creating an environment that promotes nothing less than that. Allowing people to be their true, authentic selves, but also showing them the same is key to that alignment.
