Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jalaya Haynes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi JaLaya, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The mission of our brand is to create apparel for those who are able to withstand great force and pressure while still remaining strong.
It is our focus to encourage the world that no matter what experiences come your way, you can do all things with the strength of Christ.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Growing up, I have always been heavily involved in church and reading the Bible and I knew that I wanted a clothing brand rooted in one of my favorite scriptures.
Philippians 4:13 says “ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” P413 is something that always came to mind when I needed strength. And in these moments, I knew it was God telling me that P413 was what I needed to lean on letting me know that I could do anything if I leaned firm on Christ.
This scripture has stuck with me in my mot hardest times especially when I needed the courage to leave my abusive relationship with my oldest daughter’s father.
Strength Apparel offers clothing but we also do speaking engagements to encourage individuals to be strong in many situations.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was being inconsistent. I often times failed myself and failed the company because I would start something and not finish or tell myself that I was going to do something then never get it done.
I have always been a bit of a procrastinator. Having a family, working a full time job, and trying to run a business leaves no room for procrastination because I am constantly having to meet deadlines, work around my children’s extra curricular activity schedule and also have time to give my business the attention that it needs.

Have you ever had to pivot?
The biggest pivotal moment in my life was when I became pregnant with my first child my junior year of undergraduate school.
I was scared because I was unsure about how I would be able to finish school with a newborn so I transferred into a community college in June 2020. Then my relationship was abusive so during that time of me trying to finish school I became homeless while still trying to care for a child and be a full time student. Life was hard but I always trusted God and today, I hold two degrees in Criminal Justice with a concentration on Juvenile Justice and soon plan to enroll in Law school so that i can practice Family Law and Juvenile Law.
