We were lucky to catch up with Jakeitha “Ke” | Houston Content Creator | Brand Photographer Mims recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jakeitha “Ke” | Houston Content Creator | Brand Photographer , appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?

Hi.Ke Photography came from listening to clients when I was doing family portraits. I remember one birthday session I was doing and I asked “What are you going to use photos for?” The lady responded, “Oh, just for Instagram”. I remember instantly feeling like I needed to learn what was happening on Instagram to offer trendy photos which then turned into my passion for creating content. I took some time to learn what I enjoyed most about taking photos and it was always being creative and different! Family portraits were the same every time, in my opinion and I knew I did not see this being something long term that I would never get tired of doing.

When I first started photography as a hobby, I was shooting everything! My good friend Jennifer, who is the owner of Kidcreate Studio, she was the first business that I shot for. She needed new pics and content as her business was in the process of opening. I enjoyed every bit of it. I felt like shooting photos with such a meaningful impact was something that meant a lot to me. That was when I knew I wanted to focus more on Brands & Businesses that needed content and photos to market their business online! I knew social media was making a lot of impact and continuously evolving so I wanted to learn trends and ways it could benefit businesses if used properly. I started with my own business and now I help businesses use the same social media marketing strategies to grow their business online as well.

Jakeitha “Ke” | Houston Content Creator | Brand Photographer , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Jakeitha but my social besties call me “Ke”. I started Hi.Ke Photography in 2019 after realizing I was ready to transition my hobby into a full time business. I used social media to my advantage to market online and build my brand awareness! The services that I offer are content creation and brand photography for business owners. I help new businesses grow their business using proven online marketing strategies and their create content that converts. I take away the headache and frustration of social media off business owners plates. I have learned that the average business owner does not have time to focus on social media so they need professionals like myself to do it for them. I have 8 years of experience in marketing & sales as a Private Preschool Director so I have taken those skills and applied them to content creation on social media.

I want potential clients to know that it is more than just “posting online”. It is about long term partnerships and passion for each business that I work with. I always felt like I could never find someone to treat my business like their own and I wanted to offer the complete opposite. I want clients to know that I care about their business and want to grow with them as a start up. I believe that it is important to be transparent, honest, and have open communication when doing business.

My style of photography and content creation is clean, simple and professional. You’ll notice that my photos are bright and vibrant! I am not a fan of overly photoshopped photos— that isn’t authentic. I believe it is important to be true to who you are and what you stand for.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

My business has grown through social media. I spent a lot of time posting valuable content that resonated with my audience that built trust with them to look forward to my content. I have shown a lot of behind the scenes, showcased other businesses that I have worked, diversified my content and done a lot of networking in person.

I advise any new business to show up online and use social media to their advantage. There are many ways to build brand awareness in this digital age so choosing not to show up for your business is hurting you more than anything. If anyone doesn’t know where to start, I advise connecting with someone like myself that can guide them in the right direction.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients has been networking and treating current clients like they are a first time client. I have learned the power of showing up to different businesses events and connecting with real people face to face has made a difference for my business. Even if I’m not showing up face to face, engaging with their business on social media to build connections has helped me gain new clients as well. It’s being more personable and not automated.
