We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jake Warrilow. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jake below.
Alright, Jake thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I formed Gold Step Design on the basis of designing for bands and brands that I love.
I have blended my passions, music, design, food, travel, beer and more into one collective.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I cover a variety of design styles with my main passion for badge, logo, branding and t-shirt design. It never gets old seeing your design printed on a band t-shirt!
Day to day you will find me listening to punk rock music, drinking coffee and exploring nature. I often create art based around my life experiences. Design to me is a hobby and should be kept fun.
My spare time is spent exploring with my girlfriend Lucy to new destinations in the UK and beyond surrounding ourselves with different cultures and inspiration. Just good vibes and good times.
Since 2016 I have managed an independent clothing brand Outta This Town. Fuelled by the love for design, travel and music which I still run to this day.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill is a notable book that has helped me as a person and my business.
Positive mental attitude is the biggest takeaway from this book, something we should all be introduced to.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Consistently putting out great work onto social channels allows other followers on my social media to stay engaged and with the end goal in sight of them contacting me for design work.
I put out ALOT of content (every day) in order to keep my audience engaged, by doing this I will rotate and show a variety of design topics/themes. For example one day I will post sketches of a logo in development the next day may be a finished product of a t-shirt design. Keep it fresh!
