Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jake Robbins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jake, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

Our mission is simple, “To shed light on all High Caliber Music, No matter the genre”. Since the beginning this has been the core foundation of our business. We strive to shine light on the smaller artists that deserve recognition. Every song that is submitted to our record label goes through a majority vote process, so everything is fair. It doesn’t matter if you have 100k followers, or 1 follower the only thing we care about is the music.

Jake, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

We are a Record Label from Minneapolis, Minnesota. High Caliber Records was created by a group of artists as a platform to release their own music and other producers we are surrounded by with the hope of growing into a massive platform to release local and regional talents art. High Caliber Records aims to be the leading platform of “High Caliber Music” of all genres and artists, no matter the size. We promote, distribute and provide marketing materials for artists for their music release. We also offer promo services to help spread your music to the masses. We have only done one show so far, but we also plan on putting on our own live events. Part of our goal is not only to build a platform for artists to release on, but to also psychically to play on. Our event’s will have diverse lineups that consist of artist’s that have released on our label with an exception of one special guest per event (I.e friend’s in the industry etc). One thing that separates us from other Record Labels in the industry is we do not focus on a certain type or style of music. We also take pride in responding to every submission weather its a yes or no, because we know what it’s like to be on the back end waiting for a response that typically will never come (unless its a yes).

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.

Me (Jake Robbins/RedShoes Owner of HCR) and Josh Johnson (Artist known as Thred / Co-Founder/Owner) had been friends for quite a while as we met working together managing at Chipotle Mexican Grill. Josh got me deep into the EDM scene. Josh started producing his own music and DJing at local venues and I as well got into the local dj scene. The deeper I got into it I noticed/realized how many talented music producers where around me and I would always hear story’s of how it was so hard for them to land record label releases, as well as hearing/seeing Josh struggle to land them. Me and Josh went to our friend Gabe’s wedding and we where sitting at the same table as Michael MIller (Co-Founder/Owner/ Artist known as SYNDK8/Torvah) and Lord Joseph Chismar Atkinson Vesuvius (Yes thats his real name) (Audio Engineer/Artist alias “The Chad”/Primal and Co-Founder/Owner) and we all realized after becoming friends later that they where the missing pieces of the puzzle and we launched our brand. We also just added Charlie Ingebretsen (Owner of CampLynlake) to the team as the lead Photographer/Videographer and he’s been a long time friend of all of ours since getting in the music scene. All of our artwork is provided by Andrew Garcia (Artist Alias AG/Fatal.Media).

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

A book that completely changed my aspect on life/mindset was “Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins. Ever since I finished that book, I’ve felt like I can truly accomplish anything I put my mind too, and I use all the negative aspects of my life to fuel my passion.
