We recently connected with Jake Gallagher and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jake, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
JGFilms LLC is built on the mission of storytelling that connects, inspires, and elevates. From the very beginning, I’ve been drawn to the power of film, not just as a way to capture moments, but as a way to tell stories that matter. Whether it’s a business showcasing their hard work, an athlete chasing their dream, or a couple celebrating their love, every story deserves to be told in a way that’s powerful and authentic.
What makes this mission meaningful to me is the ability to bring stories to life. I love the process of piecing together visuals, sound, and emotion to create something that truly resonates with people. A well-crafted film can do more than just document, it can inspire, evoke emotion, and leave a lasting impact. That’s why I came up with the tagline for my company: “My Lens, Your Story.” My goal has always been to use my skills and creativity to tell your story in the most compelling way possible. That’s what drives me every time I pick up a camera.
At JGFilms, I’m not just creating videos, I’m crafting narratives that help people and businesses connect with their audiences in a way that’s real, engaging, and unforgettable.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I graduated from Montclair State University with a Film degree in 2020, right in the middle of a global shutdown. With no graduation ceremony and limited opportunities in the industry, I had to get creative. I started freelancing, filming sporting events and various projects, but the work was inconsistent. To make ends meet, I worked as a Stone Mason’s Apprentice and seasonally for UPS. While it wasn’t the path I expected, this period taught me discipline, resilience, and the value of hard work and I am forever grateful to everyone who gave me opportunities along the way.
I never lost sight of my dream. Every spare dollar went toward professional film gear, and every opportunity, whether assisting on high-budget productions or grinding through freelance gigs, was a step closer to building something of my own. Eventually, I had enough experience and equipment to take the leap and launch JGFilms LLC.
Now, I provide a full range of videography services, from engagement and wedding videos to real estate, sports, product shoots, and social media management. What sets JGFilms apart is my dedication to storytelling, bringing out the heart of every subject and crafting visuals that truly connect with audiences. My goal is to make every project feel cinematic, personal, and impactful.
I’m most proud of the journey it took to get here and the relationships I’ve built along the way. I want potential clients to know that when they work with JGFilms, they’re not just getting a video, they’re getting a thoughtfully crafted story that brings their vision to life.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I use a CRM software called Studio Ninja, which was designed by wedding photographers specifically for the photo and video industry. It’s been incredibly helpful in keeping all my client data organized and up to date, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the field. Beyond that, I believe in treating each client with the respect and honesty they deserve. I live by the principle of ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ from the Bible. Building strong relationships and maintaining open communication has allowed me to build a loyal client base. I’m truly grateful for every client, as I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I wasn’t always into reading growing up, but I made an effort to push myself, and one book that truly shifted my perspective on life was The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. This book is about the power of small, consistent actions leading to massive results, and it really resonated with me as someone trying to build a business. I recommend it to anyone feeling stuck or struggling to reach their goals. Another book that had a major impact on me is Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins, which teaches the importance of mental toughness and pushing through limits. Get Out of Your Way by Russ helped me understand the importance of removing self-imposed barriers, and Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter by Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) taught me about the hustle, perseverance, and discipline required for success. These books have all played a significant role in helping me stay focused, disciplined, and determined to achieve my goals.
