We were lucky to catch up with Jake Diaz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jake, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
I grew up having a really hard time in school. I was faced with many challenges, and eventually diagnosed with a learning disability.. My mom didn’t believe that and pulled me out of public school to homeschool me. Within a few months, I went from a failing student to mostly all A’s. It was t that I had a learning disability, it was that I learn differently and need a more personalized, visual and quieter environment. I also needed to be challenged more so homeschooling works well for me.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m known as “The Kidventurist” because I love an adrenaline rush and any extreme type of activity. I’m also a foodie with a huge love for unique and carnival style foods! I think what sets me apart is my name lol. I also try to bring exposure to fun and new pop up’s, businesses and adventures! I’m most proud of my kind heart. I’m extremely social and kind and love to make new friends. I’m always open to new partnerships/collaborations and ins earth of super unique experiences.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had started volunteering and even donating to charities sooner. There is such a need out there for the less fortunate or families facing challenges and we need to come together and support those in need of financial help and any resources that would benefit them. Giving back is really important and a high priority in my life.. We have a small senior and disabled dog/cat sanctuary and I work daily by picking up poop in the yard, cleaning litter boxes, giving baths, etc. Always staying busy!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I would probably come back to my time in public school. I staying in school until 4th grade and struggled daily. There are many kids who unfortunately don’t make it out because they don’t have the strength and resilience to hang in there when school is actually traumatic for them. I wish I could find a way to help those struggling students. I have a few ideas for a non profit but it’ll be a big undertaking and will take some time to get there. Until then, I pray for the struggling students and their mental health.
