I grew up during a time when technology was rapidly evolving, and I knew I wanted to be part of that change. In high school, I started taking web design classes and quickly became captivated by computers and the endless possibilities the internet offered. The more I explored, the more I realized that the internet, search engines, and e-commerce were only going to become more vital to society. This drove me to dedicate myself to learning these technologies and seeing their potential to shape the future.
As my knowledge and skills grew, I decided to turn my passion into a business. I started offering web design and marketing services, and over time, many of my clients came from the alternative products industry—including nicotine, cannabis, and other lifestyle products. Working within this niche gave me unique insight into the needs of consumers and how to create tailored, impactful online experiences.
Years later, I was presented with an exciting opportunity: to partner with a new business focused on the future of nicotine and online shopping. This led me to SEA Pouches, where I’ve been able to leverage my experience to help market their innovative products directly to consumers. How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
We sell directly through our own website, powered by Shopify. This gives us full control over the customer experience, allowing us to create a tailored, seamless shopping experience. Shopify’s user-friendly platform makes managing our store easy, with great features for payments, shipping, and analytics.
The main advantage of using Shopify is the ability to fully customize our site and brand, without the restrictions or fees of third-party platforms like Amazon or Etsy. While marketplaces offer visibility, we prefer the flexibility of growing our brand and maintaining customer relationships directly. The challenge is driving traffic, but the control we have makes it worthwhile.
