We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jaime Saunders. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jaime below.
Hi Jaime, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Before I rebranded to J.Lee Photography, I was Creative Pixels. I loved the name so much I have it tattooed on me… lol… but, with any growth, things change. However, while operating under Creative Pixels I did a yearly event called “Shoot for a Cause”. The first year was Cancer Awareness, the next was Autism Awareness and moved on to several more from there. I would create a space for people to come that had been affected in some way by whichever cause we were bringing awareness to that year and do free photos for them and their families to create those important memories and connect with other people that had been through similar things. It’s been a few years since I’ve done one, but it was, by far, the most meaningful thing I have done with my art. I believe it is time to bring it back!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I have had a camera in my hand since I was a teenager… my aunt was a photographer before she passed from cancer at an early age and she always taught me the importance of capturing memories. I most definitely bring loads of energy and ideas into a shoot! Don’t be surprised if you see me climb a tree to catch the perfect angle! Haha… and that’s one of the things I am most proud of…. My genuine love for capturing the best photos for everyone.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing for me as a photographer is to see the look on someone’s face when I show them how they look through my lens. And making people comfortable that were so nervous about the idea of photos of themselves. I want them to love their photos so much that they post them everywhere and have canvases printed for their wall! I love when people realize they are art.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Honestly, I am still building. The key is consistency and interacting every single day because most of your business will come from complete strangers that just happen to see you come across their social media. I have for sure been lacking in consistency myself because, you know… life. 😂 but you believe in you and by showing that daily, others will believe in you too.
