Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jaime Hansell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jaime, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is a term that I always feel like was never a “one size fits all”. Success looks soo different to everyone, but if I had to break it down from my point of view I could summarize it down to 9 key points.
1. You set clear goals.
By having clear direction and purpose, you can focus your efforts and make more intentional choices.
2. You are hard-working & determined.
These two things are not sold to you automatically when you say you wanna be successful. It requires you to be dedicated, disciplined, and willing to put in the necessary effort to overcome obstacles and achieve your objectives.
3. You continually learn and improve yourself.
Successful people commit their lives to becoming better through lifelong learning. They seek knowledge, acquire new skills, and adapt to changing circumstances. They are always open to feedback, willing to learn from failures, and consistently strive to improve themselves.
4. You are resilient and push to persevere.
When setbacks, challenges, and even failures come ( because they definitely will ), you have the ability to bounce back from adversity and maintain a positive mindset.
5. You understand passion AND purpose.
6. You build a strong network.
Surrounding yourself with supportive and like-minded individuals can contribute to success. Building a network of mentors, advisors, and collaborators can provide guidance, support, and valuable opportunities.
7. You display integrity & ethical behavior.
Nothing should come at the expense of integrity. Treating others with respect, and maintaining a strong moral compass builds trustworthy relationships.
8. You adapt & have flexibility.
Everything in this world is constantly changing. Being open to new ideas, embracing change, and adjusting your strategies when necessary can help you stay relevant and seize new opportunities.
9. You know how and when to take calculated risks.
Stepping out of your comfort zone and taking risks means you have the ability to assess potential rewards and weigh them against potential risks for a greater opportunity for growth.
I know that was a lot, sorry, haha, but all in all it’s important to note that success is a personal and subjective concept, and everyone’s definition is different. Take what you need!
Jaime, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello All! Jaime Hansell here. I am currently a Photographer, Podcast Host, Beauty Enthusiast & most of all a Creative Visionary. It’s really hard to choose what’s the most exciting about what I do since I do sooo many things, but the BEST part of what I do as a Creative Visionary is that can be expressed through every channel of my career(s). Whether it is through a self-motivational podcast episode to encourage others they can be successful with living in their purpose, a dope editorial fashion photoshoot to build the portfolio of a local model, or providing creative makeup services for a play, being able to express myself through different mediums is great, but solving the creative block with untouchable delivery for my clients is even more top tier!
I am so proud of the fact that I worked THROUGH a lot of the problems that have come with entrepreneurship. I am not saying that you can’t step away, but for me, I am proud that I never gave up. I show up every day giving my all.
Being me just consists of creating. Creating is an outlet for me to not only express myself but to channel out all of the things that I know don’t serve a purpose within or to get me where I’d like to be. My brand(s) display hard work and dedication. From the bottom up.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I am currently still building and growing, but thus far I have built/ my audience or supporters by simply just being consistent. Now, I am not the perfect poster in the world, but I have noticed that most people who currently support me are 1. Been following my journey for a while or 2. Complete strangers who respect the grind and/or love the content that I post!
Even if you feel like no one is watching, trust me they’re. Don’t worry about the intentions, just do what you do best and that’s YOU, show up for your brand and level up!
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
My photography business ( J Candid Photography ) is the literal definition of a side hustle to the main career. I worked in the financial industry fresh out of high school until my early 20s. Working at the bank and leveling up o specifically mortgages, I thought was my end game. I was far too creative to be stuck behind a desk all day all week and purging myself on the weekends of the imagination oozing out of my brain.
I started taking photography a lot more seriously when I began my journey to become a YouTuber and repurchased my first DSLR camera in 2017. Though I did not seek out that journey at the time, I began to water my interest in photography. I would go practice with family and friends being my models and allowing me to be comfortable on the other side of the camera. Fast forward to 5 years later, I live on purpose in my passion, photography. It all begins with an idea. Along with photography, I have added brand development/marketing, graphic design, and social media management to the services that I offer. Most recently makeup services also, and I am just getting started!
