We recently connected with Jaidyn Manus and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jaidyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think it’s easy to become successful. First, you have to be passionate in what you’re doing. Second, you have to focus on the quality of your work instead of the money you make. Third, you have to listen to your clients concerns and be understanding. My small business grew very quickly. I remember to always stay kind And listen to each clients specific needs. I think a lot of larger businesses don’t take the time to create personal relationships with their clients. I think a good relationship with your client can make a huge difference. I worked for a few larger cleaning companies before I started my own, and one thing they lack is communication. I think communicating with your client and expressing your appreciation can make them feel valued on their end as well.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I had to grow up very quickly in life. I became pregnant at the age of 15, and had my son at 16. I have always had a job and a hustle mentality. I started professionally cleaning when I was 17 and found it very therapeutic for myself. After working for several companies, I didn’t feel like they were filling my cup. I didn’t feel valued. I finally decided to start my own business in 2023. I started from scratch, with only the knowledge of how to clean. I look up to a woman by the name of Jessie. She has taught me so much about how to run a business the correct way. I now have a very successful small business, and I intend on hiring women and making them feel valued in a way that I never felt.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Most of my clients come by word-of-mouth. I make sure the quality of my work is always good. I make sure my clients are taken care of and satisfied. I use social media for advertising, but I have never had to pay for advertising, or go out of my way to advertise my business.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Not all money is good money. When I first started my business, I found myself working for less than what I was worth. In some cases, it’s fine when you’re first starting out. But I quickly realized that I was being pushed around and used in a way that made me feel worthless. Now I get to pick which clients to service, and I hold myself at a high standard. I make sure I am always valued for what I do.
