We were lucky to catch up with Jaida Whitfield recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaida, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?

It was the top of September 2021. I received a direct message from “a stranger at the time” about attending a summit that was a just a couple weeks away from happening in Columbia, SC. The scheduled dates were September 18th to 20th. Totally skeptical, I didn’t know who the woman was that jumped in my DM nor did I know anything about the summit she was promoting. Oh course, several questions were asked and she quickly responded without hesitation and with great detail. She sent over all the information I needed to make a decision. I contemplated what to do for days. To say it was indecisiveness was an understatement. I even prayed about it.

Eventually, she messages me again and advises me to fill out an information form on the event website so that someone could contact me personally about the amazing things the summit had to offer. I filled out the form and that evening, she contacts me directly. The conversation was delightful, informative and she was very personable. I could definitely tell that she had an entrepreneurial mindset and she was genuine. I took the risk and gave in to her well-delivered proposal. I purchased a general ticket as well as booked a hotel suite. With limited time ahead, I spent a good bit for this annual 3-day event that was now only a week away from commencement.

September 18th has arrived. Its “Travel Day”. I packed up my ride with my essentials and rolled. MPulse Summit, here I come. I was eager to find out for myself exactly what this event was going to offer me personally.

As soon as I hit the sliding doors of the DoubleTree Hotel in Columbia, I was immediately greeted by Micheline Barber. The same woman who messaged me on Instagram about the summit. I take notice from all the banners in the lobby that she’s the leading lady behind this event. To make a long story short, the MPulse Summit was life-changing. I was introduced to so many ways to level up as a business owner, as well as add a few more techniques to my service list.

Today, I consider her one of my mentors. She continues to pour into me along with other people who have attended the event in the previous years. From the first year as an attendee to now being the lead of the BarberZone & the MFluencers. I’m still in shock by all the progression I’ve made in less than 2 years.

She has also helped me develop my product line, “HUUKED”, by putting me in contact with the right product developers, along with training me up to be an Elite Educator and a Platform Artist. Had I not taking the risk, I’m not sure where I would be today. I am forever grateful for the exposure I’ve received and the priceless knowledge I’ve obtained from all the Elite Educators that are apart of the MPulse Summit. What I’ve now learned for myself is to do the very thing that scares you the most. It could definitely change your life for the better.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

As a teenager, I always loved the art of cutting hair. I remember a comical moment where my younger sister put gum in her hair. I cut it out and our mother never noticed what happened. I knew then that I had a gift.

But I did not pursue my love for the hair industry until I was feed up with the politics of Corporation America. I decided in an instant to take a leap of faith to do what I’ve always loved to do with an eagle-eye focus. And I’m proud of the progression I’ve made thus far.

The Royal Cuts Experience really cannot be explained. It’s more than just a haircut. I provide all haircut services for all hair types. From shear to clipper cutting, I expertise has grown with time and definitely with a lot of daily practice. I even have customers patronize the shop because they need me to “fix a cut”. I’m able to use my barber’s eye to see where it all went wrong. I think that’s a key element that sets me apart from other barbers in the industry.

The other services I provide are Custom Cut and Color, Clipper Designs, Loc Retwist and Style as well as Steam Facials and Man Weave Units.

The Royal Cuts Experience is a One-Stop Shop for the entire family. I’ve even developed an all-natural product line that promotes hair growth, combats scalp discomfort, and restores the hair’s natural PH levels. It will definitely have you “HUUKED”.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

It’s always been my belief that if you do your best, your work will speak for you. I believe that “GrassRoot Marketing” or “Word of Mouth” has been the best way I’ve built my clientele over years. Also, my clients feel at home every time they visit the shop. Great service, good music and great conversation will always be the foundation of The Royal Cuts Experience.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

Absolutely! I surround myself with like-minded individuals or other business owners that are able and willing to exchange ideas, advice, and financial resources to help facilitate a bigger and better tomorrow for my personal and business development. There are also several books I’ve read that assist me in my journey as well.
