We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kreez Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kreez, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
We’ve all experienced hardships in the journey to success. I’m here to share my story and hardships with the world with one of them being poverty. Growing up it was just me my brother and my mom and she had health complications which prevented her from doing certain types of work. although she made sure it was food and a roof over our heads growing up it was not easy watching her struggle to figure out how we were going to eat or which bill was getting paid while another wasn’t. When I chose to pursue my dream of an artist I realized I needed money to invest in myself so I figured iut ways to get it wether it was a 9-5 job or engineering and selling beats. Everytime I get ahead life knocked me back 2 feet with Unexpected bills or a pile up of traffic tickets etc.. I just couldnt get a break but I do realize every Loss is a lesson to be learned if you allow it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I actually got into music by hanging around friends that did music. to be specific it was SO Mackin & SP Everything that was there with me making. my first song recording. That’s who got me started. Who got me into the industry was myself along with Jay Millian And CaliThePoet we entered this industry at the same time together with our inevitable team 5Th Level & S2H.
I am an artist and producer. I’ve produced for multiple names such as 1takejay, P1, Blxst, Bino , Mozzy , Donny Loc Etc.. I also have songs out on every streaming platform under KreezTheArtist with my newest release “Stressin”.
I feel like my originality seperates me from others I don’t care to follow the same music trends of the Los Angeles Area. I want to make music that shows longevity something You can show your kids kids and say “ this is good music right here “ Songs that out grandparents today will listen to and not be ashamed of today’s music. I’m very proud of the person I am in and outside of the music because of the fact that I am the exact same person through and through. I could never be anything other than myself and it’s a blessing to say that.
I want my fans and potential new fans to know that i aim to change the course of music with what I plan to deliver. Bring Good music back like the 90s and 2000s. Bring that Feel good music back so we can start enjoying music without the feeling of aggression or depression.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I’ve known about publishing companies marketing strategies, & the entertaining business side in general early on. It would’ve prevented all the false dreams label heads and different People in the industry have tried to sell me.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My Goal in my journey to success is to be successful. That being a given I want to take care of the ones that took care of me while pushing for this journey. I know It wasn’t easy and people do have their own life and life problems so I know helping me out may have been a big burden. My goal is letting those few people know that I am very grateful and take care of them so they can enjoy the riches I was blessed with
