Hi Jahleill, thanks for joining us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
The kindest thing someone has done for me was unexpectedly handing me an envelope with enough money to buy a laptop for college. I used to be a barista at a shop called “Pret a manger”. There was this nice lady who always came to me & I’ll ring her up. As time went on & she came by regularly we became acquainted. I started opening up & each conversation would be about what I’m going through & my journey to college. She always gave good wisdom & had a book to share. I remember mentioning to her that I’m in the process of finding colleges & that I’m putting in a lot of hours to afford a laptop. Now the time has passed since that conversation & we are still regularly chatting when we see each other. Then one day I remember her telling me to come outside & then she handed me the envelope with the cash to get my envelope. At this moment I was so shocked but very grateful. This mattered to me because it taught me just to be nice & don’t be afraid to talk. Now with some discernment, I don’t mind answering questions like “How are you “ or “How can I help” because whoever is asking may have what I need.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am 22 years old and I’m from Boston, Massachusetts. I do web series production & I’m currently a producer for Gemini Flimz production company. We offer reality show entertainment specifically within the LGBTQIA+ community. I’m most proud of badboyzclub season 7 being my first time producing & it later became the most watched LGBT web series in 2022 on YouTube with over 2 million views.
How’d you meet your business partner?
So I met my ceo Karon Wilson in 2013 & what’s funny is I met up with him to purchase tickets to a reunion for one of his shows. We both lived in the same city however he is 4 years older than me. So now after the reunion, I am still in fan mode but as time progressed we became friends. now I was still a fan of Gemini Flimz but my love for Karon became more real because now we are close friends. As time went I expressed interest in his shows & then he allowed me to produce. After seeing the success it was just up from there & now I work with my friend.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My side hustle/ passion is web series production. I work a full-time job as a overnight security guard. It’s not what I want to do however it’s funding my pockets so I can take on projects. My main goal right now is to turn my passion for web series production into my full-time job and lifestyle. I am moving to ATL to put myself in that environment of entrepreneurship & black entertainment. My first milestone in this side hustle is producing a hit show. That was the fire I needed to make this into a lifestyle. I work about 40 hours in a week being a security guard. I want to work those hours + more doing TV production knowing I’m working for my purpose.
