Jafet, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think an important key to be successful is to be persistent and persevere in any goal or goals you have set and want to achieve. Also, to always have a positive attitude will help you stay motivated and focused. That doesn’t means that everything is going to go as planned but it will help you to not give up and at the same time learn from your mistakes when they occur. Lastly celebrate your success when you achieve a goal it doesn’t matter how small or big it is.

Jafet, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jafet Centeno and I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. At the end of 2017, I moved to Spring Hill, Florida to raise my family. I have been working in the Information Technology field for 16 years. I am an artistic person who grew up playing musical instruments, drawing, painting, and performing in theater.
When my wife got pregnant six years ago, I bought a professional camera to take pictures of her maternity journey. I soon realized that photography is one of the most natural and beautiful forms of art. I was able to capture amazing moments of our growing family.
After posting my family photos on social media, friends started asking me to take photos for them. I began doing photography as a hobby, and over time, with a lot of practice and learning, I was able to start my own photography business.
What started as a personal hobby ended up being the perfect blend of my two passions: technology and art. My family is still my favorite people to photograph, but being able to do something I love and have the dedication to do it for other families is rewarding.
I am a Portrait, Events and Lifestyle photographer, and the owner of JCenteno Photography, LLC. My business is based in Spring Hill, Florida, and I serve the surrounding areas, including Tampa. I am passionate about capturing special moments and memories so that my clients can cherish them for a lifetime.
I am known for my professionalism, attention to detail and high-quality pictures. I also offer photo compositing and various editing techniques that makes my final product unique.
I offer a variety of photoshoot packages to cover a wide range of services, including Children portraits, First birthday/Cake Smash portraits, Maternity portraits, Family portraits, Senior portraits, Special Events, Lifestyle photos and Wedding/Engagement.
I am most proud of making the decision of starting my photography business and being able to profit out of my passion and I’m looking forward to see how I keep growing as a professional photographer/business owner.
Getting to know my clients is very important to me because it helps me project who they are and what they want in their photos. My goal as their photographer is to provide them with the most personalized experience while capturing their special moments so that they can see their style and vision in the final product. There’s nothing more rewarding to me than when a client tells me that I’m going to be their “go-to” photographer for any future photography need.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I’ve found that the most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been to create a great photography portfolio website. This website showcases my work and allows potential clients to see what I’m capable of. I also make sure to keep my website up-to-date with new photos and information.
In addition to my website, I also use social media to promote my photography business. I share photos from my portfolio on social media, and I also use social media to connect with potential clients. I’ve found that social media is a great way to reach a large audience and to build relationships with potential clients.
Finally, I also network with other photographers and businesses in my area. This helps me to get my name out there and to connect with potential clients who may be looking for a photographer. I’ve found that networking is a great way to build relationships and to grow my business.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been word-of-mouth referrals from my existing satisfied customers. When people are happy with the work I do, they are more likely to recommend me to their friends and family. This has been a very effective way for me to grow my business, as it has allowed me to reach a wider audience of potential clients.
I believe that word-of-mouth referrals are so effective because they are based on trust. When someone recommends me to their friend or family member, they are essentially vouching for my work and my abilities. This gives potential clients a lot of confidence in me, which makes them more likely to hire me.
I am very grateful for the referrals that I have received from my existing customers. It is a great feeling to know that my work is appreciated and that I am able to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I am always happy to refer my customers to other businesses that I trust, and I hope that they will continue to recommend me to their friends and family.
