We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jaeda Davis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jaeda, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
I don’t sweat this much. I promote my business to the audience it is intended for. Whether it be friends, family or strangers. What is for me is for me. I promote, they see, whatever is the outcome is the outcome. I can say though being an entrepreneur shows you who is really in your corner. Who really supports you and your decisions. Small business owners appreciate the support! Even if its as simple as a share on social media or a word of mouth referral.. Support isn’t always monetary.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jaeda Davis and I am a real estate agent, entrepreneur and model. Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI living in Phoenix, AZ. I’ve always been a free spirit. Someone who didn’t really want to be told what to do. Always on the look out for better ways for things to be done — work smarter, not harder was always my motto. I am a licensed real estate agent in the Phoenix area and I own an online home decor company called Divine Decor Store. (DivineDecorStore.com) I got into my passion for real estate through a bunch of awful experiences with property management companies and renting! If you know, you know! I genuinely love helping people and helping them with one of the most important structures in their life makes me happy. I enjoy decorating and inspiring people to find and create a home that they love and enjoy. You can only control what you can control, so I think it’s important to have a space where you’re the boss and in 100% control. A lot of external events, experiences and factors can sometimes be intimidating, but your home should not be one of them! Controlling that space can help alleviate a lot of that stress and pressure and bring a sense of peace. Its a great confidence booster also! :)
I want you guys to know that this passion is true for me. I don’t really care about the money, I’m truly HAPPY to be in this space. One of the most important decisions of your life include shelter and it’s important for people to care about you in that capacity. You’re not just a number or someone paying their rent. This is your home and it should be everything you desire it to be and more!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
This happened recently actually. I moved to Phoenix excited about the large amount of opportunities and excited to get a job in banking or a real estate related profession. I worked hard and secured that banking job. Talk about hype.. lol. It was all good at first until it wasn’t. Until things got ya know… boring, stagnant, repetitive. Going to work, coming home and repeat.. it was getting old and I knew I needed a change.
Back into the job market I go…
Then boom… I land a position in a completely different space.. I convince myself that hey… why not? I didn’t like what I thought I liked (banking), so I gave it a shot. That experience……. experienced so I had to sit back and really think about my next move because the job hopping wasn’t it. I had to start living with purpose and actually working for what I’ve been saying I want in life.
There is no perfect time. Ever. Just do it. Now. That was my pivot.
I took action and signed up for real estate classes, signed up for modeling workshops/classes and began building the foundation to my online home decor company. These are the things I wanted… so I had to go get them. How long do you sit in the “want” phase before you get up and go get it?
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Something I had to unlearn was the idea of my life being out of my control. The idea that life happens to me and that eventually what I desired in life would fall into my lap.. LOL.
My life is an accumulation of my choices so far.. in one way or another, so I had to become more conscious of the decisions I made and currently making because eventually I will see a consequence for them. May not be today.. may not be tomorrow but eventually.
I went to college… like everyone says you should.. got my degree and got a job… like everyone says you should!! I’m working, coming home.. feeling unfulfilled, unhappy, bored and annoyed! On top of that, I’m making short term financial decisions because these things made me feel good about the space I was currently in in my life. I never dug in and searched for what I wanted! I’m just going with the flow of life waiting on my fairy godmother to come save me and place me exactly where I …”think” I want to be in life.
…LOL! How do you know where you want to be if you aren’t being intentional and learning yourself? Ya don’t…
Think about it.. It’s like the body, you get out what you put in. You can’t complain about the fruits you reap when you sowing subpar seeds or not sowing any seeds at all.
I had to get real with myself! You gotta WERK! Roll your sleeves up.. get dirty and buckle up for the ride. It won’t come easy but the journey is the best part. What you water grows..
