We recently connected with Jae Martin and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jae, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In a world fixated on wealth and possessions as markers of success, I see achievement differently. Success, to me, is leaving a legacy that inspires my children to chase their dreams, finding joy in the journey rather than material gain. Though I’ve been shielded from severe hardships, the boundless love my parents provided fuels my art, allowing me to share love through my canvases. Each time someone embraces my art, I feel a profound sense of accomplishment, as it sustains my creative materials and spreads a message of love wins. Success, in my eyes, means touching hearts and leaving a lasting impact on the world, one masterpiece at a time.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a self-taught pop artist hailing from Brooklyn and now based in Philadelphia, my work is infused with the frenetic energy of city life and the vibrant hues of street art. With a deep respect for the graffiti art style, I incorporate its elements into my pieces to create something truly unique.
My art is anything but ordinary, capturing the fleeting emotions and thoughts of the moment. I work quickly, often completing a piece in just one day using a variety of mediums, including acrylics, Sharpie oil markers, and spray paint.
After the loss of my parents, I am driven to succeed and honor their memory. I draw on anecdotes from my father and the love of life instilled in me by my mother to add depth to my creations. My goal is to infuse each piece with a sense of love, inspiring others to spread joy and positivity.
I am fortunate to have a close circle of friends who serve as both sounding boards and motivators, keeping me grounded and focused on my mission. Through my art and brand, I aim to bring more love and color into the world, using my creativity as my language of choice.

Have you ever had to pivot?
The moment my mom called to say she needed cancer tests, my perspective on life shifted dramatically. She’d always been my hero, teaching me the value of hard work and caring for your loved ones. Discovering she faced the toughest battle of her life, I resolved to be there for her, just as she had been for my sister and me, and indeed, for everyone in her circle. For 10 months, I dedicated myself to her care, and in that time, she imparted a crucial lesson: live each day as if it were your last. Inspired, I made a promise to her and myself that my art would reach many, allowing them to feel the love I aim to spread.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
As a creative, my client base has predominantly grown through word of mouth, organic discovery on social media, and numerous art showcases. Among these avenues, my personal favorite is through showcasing my work. It not only offers a platform to engage with fellow art enthusiasts but also serves as a means to convey my artistic message. Witnessing the joy or the spark of understanding in their expressions serves as a powerful motivator, igniting my passion to create more.
