We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jae Landreth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jae below.
Hi Jae, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I became aware of the need to be more energy independent after the rise of fuel costs in the last recession 2008. Energy awareness is how the idea for the solar business came about. I became facinated with energy how we get it, use it, and if there was a way to function without lighting things on fire. Being completely dependent on a gas everytime I travel. I wanted to see if it was possible to run my electric car and home on sunshine. This began the journey to start a new education path to learn everything I could about solar. Electric vehicles and solar provides a sustainable path for someone looking to be more energy independent. Imagine not needing to go to a gas station ever again. Plug in your car when you get home just like you do your cell phone.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We have succeeded over the past 6 years because we care about the solar or energy storage project as much as our customers do. Our goals are to make sure the bar we set in the industry is of the highest of quality standards. We educate others so they understand completely the opportunity solar and energy storage provides. It is a journey that we make sure people enjoy and want to tell everyone they know about.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Solar Planet started in 2018. When covid hit my wife decided the time was right to leave her 20 year career as a nurse to help me full time. Her organization and brillance allowed the business to take off and its been busy ever since.
Have you ever had to pivot?
The most important thing to remember about starting a business is to do it for the right reasons. It has to be something your passionate about because if your not its impossible to get through the times of when a logical person would quit. When you love what you do its not work. We believe transitioning to clean energy in our homes and transportation is necessary for the continuation of our species. Rather than this being a dyer consequence its actually the most rewarding journey one can take. Our mission is to help take that first step.
