We recently connected with Jae Ivlie and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jae thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Being successful requires a lot of drive and ambition. It means that you have to really believe and want to make something happen, in order to achieve it and really make it happen. In my case, I have been writing music since around the ages of 8 or 9 years old. I always knew that music was something that I really wanted to do. At 17 years old, is when I really started pursuing music professionally, and since a kid I have kept my ambition and drive and have accomplished quite a bit of accomplishments with me now only being the age of 21. I believe that if I keep the same hunger with my ambition and drive, then I will only continue to prosper and accomplish more of my dreams and goals. It is important to keep to yourself focused on the vision and keep the ambition and all the same, even when things get hard. With all this, my motto is “Just Accomplish Everything®”, which is what the “JAE” in Jae Ivlie means in my registered trademark name and logo.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Jae Ivlie is a rapper, singer, songwriter, upcoming audio engineer, aspiring actress, & entrepreneur. I originated from the Southside of Chicago. I have a very a bold & edgy sound, with lyrics that are hardcore and confident. Some influences of mine are Kanye West, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, J. Cole, and a lot of the older, southern 2000’s rap. I began writing music as a kid around the age of 8 years old. In 2021, I started uploading freestyles of popular songs up onto Youtube. Within this journey 2 producers, DJ Kin Kinetic & Kangoo Kiddd, came along to work with me & help me further my craft. The year of 2022 is when I graduated High School & dropped my first album, “Class of 2022”, which was inspired by Kanye’s album “Graduation”.
It is now currently 2025 and I have accomplished a lot of my goals and am on the journey to continue to do so. From radio interviews, podcast interviews, festival performances, premiering in my first movie, etc. , I have accomplished a lot. I am happy to say I am on the road to an early college graduation earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music, with an emphasis in Recording Arts & Technology & a certificate in Digital Media Production in December of 2025, after only 3 and a half years. My college experience has helped advance my craft and helped me explore different genres of music from singing songs in Italian and Spanish, and performing in operas & ensembles. I’ve done all of this while also doing 2 internships. One in Audio Engineering, and the other in Digital Media Content & Broadcasting. This journey has not been easy and has had it’s ups and downs, but I was determined to make things happen for myself. As stated before my motto is “Just Accomplish Everything®”, and I am determined to continue to do so, as I continue on my musical journey. I want to also dive deeper into entrepreneurship, as well. My brand of Jae Ivlie clothing has been something I have been pushing since 17, as well, along with candles. I want to eventually expand my brand of clothing and make a complete clothing line for fans & customers to shop from. I may even open my own music studio one day. As of now, I have been focused heavily on my goals as an artist & audio engineer, and want to continue to hone my crafts between the two, while on this road to my college graduation. I see so much more for Jae Ivlie as a whole and am determined to be a well rounded artist & industry professional.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I started making music in my mom’s basement at 17. I had known for a long time that I wanted to be an artist, but had finally got the push to pursue it. I remember being in the car with my mom listening to a song and telling her how I wanted to badly record music, but didn’t have my own funds to go to the studio, as I had been looking for a job for a while. I remember her getting irritated with me, as this was something I stated often, she asked, “Well, why won’t you just buy your own equipment and record yourself?”. Something instantly clicked in my head, as I hadn’t ever even thought about buying my own equipment or knew the first thing about it, but I was so happy she had given me the idea. I researched everything that I needed to get and knew that I would have to ask others for the money and just save up, over some time. I ended up getting a call back from my first job that I applied for at K&G Fashion, did the interview, and ended up getting hired. I no longer needed to wait on anybody for money and I worked as a sales associate to build my whole studio. I started off with an old, slow Windows computer and a cheap USB mic, which I used to start uploading my freestyles to Youtube. I then saved enough money to buy a whole studio set up with speaker monitors, a brand new MacBook, an interface, a decent mic, a midi keyboard, & 4 different DAWs for me to choose from. It was like everything just fell into my lap and it was meant for things to work out that way, since I wanted it so much. I was able to get everything I needed to start my journey and continue and did not have to depend on others to do so.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect about being an artist is being able to express yourself. I love that I have the ability to write words and make them flow together, while also making them pertain to my mood and how I am thinking. It is also very rewarding when I see and hear others who vibe and like the art that I created, that had originally just started as I something I wrote because I felt a way or something that I just ended up writing or saying playing around. I think having the ability to express yourself in music is one of the best things in life.
