We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jae Hussain. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jae below.

Jae, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later?

I definitely wish I would have started my business sooner than later, however I do believe that all things happen when they are suppose to happen. I believe that life experiences we go though help keep us on track to where we’re suppose to be. We never see it that way in some moments but time always tell. When I stared my business I had completed my Bachelors degree a few years prior and had already built a lengthy career in my 9-5 work, but I was looking for more , more of something that i was more passionate about. One of my mentors had asked me “what did I like to do in my spare time?” and I honestly at that point didn’t know. So I started to think about it and music was always my passion since I was a child. I started back exploring music on a hobby bases and quickly was able to grow in to a business. After growing a music business I went on to start a few other companies and now I feel more like a serial entrepreneur.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

I see myself as a woman of many facets. I’m a business consultant, Music producer & Investor all in all I’m a serial entrepreneur to sum it up.

I’m mostly known in the entertainment world for music production. My music production company I offer production services such as custom beat creation, vocal recording and mixing & mastering services.

For business consulting services I offer a broad spectrum of consultation services such as business mentorship , business formation , business planning and I depth supply chain consultations.

As an investor I have a few international vacation rentals available. As of today rentals are available for booking online in Cancun Mexico.

Any advice for managing a team?

My advice for managing a team and maintaining high morale is to effectively lead, lead by example. Many of your team members are looking at you as the leader of the organization to set the pace in the tone, understanding each of your employees are unique and understanding their uniqueness, what motivates each one of them individually. I say this because  not all people are motivated by money not all people are motivated by things so it’s really understanding the team that you build, and what value you can also bring to them that they can intern bring value into your organization. I truly believe in the things that you take care of will take care of you.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

Obtaining capital for your organization is a strategy, there’s self funded and then there’s obtaining investors or taking out loans. For me personally since I’ve had a long-standing career in corporate America, I decided I wanted to see fund my organization. How I was able to sell find my organization was through financial discipline the money that I earned from working or any other side jobs that I was doing I’m made sure I understood my expenses every month and what I could save and put it aside also, in parallel, creating a business plan in a business model that will give me minimal to no overhead and very low operational cost.
