We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jae Hale. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jae below.
Jae, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
I grew up surrounded by educators and creatives, many of whom are in my family. After graduating from college, I pursued a career in teaching and have accumulated 7 years of experience to date. During my time as a teacher, I discovered a passion for videography by participating in a school program that offered students the opportunity to learn video and photography skills. I dedicated some of my planning time to attend these classes, gradually acquiring proficiency in using cameras.
Unexpectedly, I faced a mid-year layoff from my teaching job and found myself without a source of income. In response, I decided to turn my newfound videography skills into a side hustle to generate additional earnings. Although launching my business wasn’t driven by fear, it emerged from a period of personal struggle and depression. I needed a positive focus to encourage me to move forward.
In the following months, I collaborated with experienced individuals in the field I was pursuing, seeking valuable advice on how to navigate my path. I diligently worked on building my portfolio, offering my videography services for free or at a discounted rate to gain more experience and showcase my capabilities to potential clients. It took approximately six months of dedicated effort to secure a few clients who engaged me on a retainer basis.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello, I’m Jae Hale, a 31-year-old native of Houston, TX, currently residing in New Orleans, LA. My journey to Louisiana began with a full scholarship to Southeastern Louisiana University for football and track and field, and I’ve made it my home ever since. I’ve been happily married to my amazing wife, Emilee Hale, for 6 years.
As a videographer with Blue Jae Films, I specialize in event coverage, commercials, festivals, sports, and music entertainment. My mission is to provide clients with the assurance that their ideas or projects will be executed in a highly creative and professional manner.
What I take immense pride in is my consistent dedication to my craft, which has led to rewarding collaborations with major festivals, renowned music artists like Janelle Monae, PJ Morton, Louis York, and professional athletes such as New Orleans Saints Tight End Juwuan Johnson and Pelicans player Jose Alvarado.
For potential clients considering my services, I want them to know that professionalism is ingrained in the identity and brand of Blue Jae Films. This commitment has enabled me to work successfully with clients who value transparency and effective communication. In an industry where some businesses fall short of delivering on promises, I strive to stand out by combining professionalism with the delivery of high-end, quality work that leaves clients more than satisfied.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My aspiration is to transition Blue Jae Films into a full-time venture, complete with a dedicated studio for client collaboration and educational classes. I envision these classes catering not only to kids but individuals of all ages aspiring to enter the video industry. What propels me forward is the constant challenge to evolve into the best version of myself. I hope that this journey not only fulfills my personal growth but also inspires others to discover and pursue their passions in life.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
“I believe that my reputation in the market has been built on the principles of honesty and transparency. I make it a priority to be straightforward with people about what I can offer and how I can add value to them. These qualities are essential not only in business but also in building strong relationships. I find that certain skills are transferable across various aspects of life, and their significance becomes even more apparent when business is involved.”
