We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jadinah Gustave. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jadinah below.
Hi Jadinah, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a client that you appreciate them?
On our firm anniversary December 15 in 2020 we declared it our client appreciation day. We went out and prepared gift bags and I personally dropped of gifts to their homes or place of employment. One of the gifts was a personal video I prepared explaining the purpose and all that they mean to the firm. No one expected the actual attorney to show up on their doorstep. That was a fun and exciting way to show our appreciation for our clients. They are still talking about it today. I truly believe that clients are the best part of our firm.

Jadinah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am called to law and have been since the age of 7. I am a first generation Haitian American. I have been blessed to have parents who dedicated their lived to full time ministry and real estate. I grew up watching them serve their Haitian community in south Florida through the church and in their home buying process. I am a concerned for people who I believe are disadvantaged because of their lack of resources or understanding a world that is new to them or their families. We have taken the step to begin our rebranding to serve primarily first-generation Haitian Americans. Those whose parents were resilient and tough enough to make to America to give them the opportunity to achieve all that they are called to. Specifically in the areas of Business, from formation to acquisitions.
We are fully aware that most Haitian immigrants had to work for others to make ends meet, but their children have a choice. That is where we come in, we are here to make sure they are legally secured in all of their business and estate planning endeavors. We also want to make sure as they grow their assets it is secured, we do that through providing education and solutions to generational wealth and asset protection through Wills Trusts and Estate representation.
I envision the expansion of our law firm into providing Peace of Mind and power over clients’ desire to secure and leave their legacies through our Wills, Trusts, and Estates legal practice in the Midwest and Northeast. I also envision our Divorce LAB Institute program going global when “divorce is their reality, we develop their legal strategy” through support, their story and legal experience. Not allowing divorce to crush or distract them from their purpose and destinies. Ultimately, I plan for our foundation to travel the globe in a missionary capacity serving people in need of physical, mental, spiritual, and legal support through a plethora of resources we will gather in connection with organizations we currently are affiliated with and will affiliate with in the future.
We are uniquely positioning ourselves in the market to make the Haitian American population in these United states and abroad legally limitless!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Like many others COVID had a huge impact on our business. Within the past five years it was our lowest revenue generating year. However, every case allowed a deeper since of pride as we close them out because it seemed more important to the clients than any other time before. During that time we also had a big shift in our workforce yet as opposed to allowing that to have us downsize I devised a office strategy that allowed all current employees and contractors 2 innovate the areas that they were working in so that we would not have to slow down or send anyone on an hiatus. I am proud at the way that I was able to add new practice areas and expound on one that were lacking the necessary visibility. Resilience during that period led to a huge increase and visibility for the firm in the community at large. We now have a more solid firm and specific practice areas that we consider Covid and recession proof. Our Will, Trust and Estate; Business Formation and contracts and Probate practices are better than ever, and our employees are equipped with more tools than ever before. We know if we did not innovate and stay resilient, we would not have made it out bigger and better. We even expanded to a new region, Atlanta, Georgia, during this time.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
After years in the business, I have found one of the most effective strategies for growing our clientele is direct communication or word of mouth. Mostly, when I speak in at conferences or seminars. The ability to provide value through the presentation convinces attendees that we understand their need, and we have the solution. An equally effective growth strategy is word of mouth. There is nothing like word of mouth. It is highly effective as well. Our conversion rate on word-of-mouth advertising is near the 80 percent or more mark. We make sure that we are concerned with the client and their need, so they know that they are important from the moment they become a part of the SG Firm family to the end of their matter. At the end of the representation, we ask them to refer someone they know need legal assistance in our practice areas. Even though paid advertising is effective in its own way, I believe the organic personal touch of individuals seeing you, hearing you and word of mouth are the most effective strategies.
