Alright, Jadee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.

MALIBU SUNS® started a decade ago in Malibu California inspired by the gorgeous world-famous Malibu Sun Rise & Sun Set! Jadee Rhodes and her tortoise Ruble Speedracer had a vision of painting custom sunglasses for local wineries and boutiques in Malibu to bring joy with unique styles, celebrating the world-famous Malibu Sun while raising funds for wildlife conservation.
Since then Malibu Suns have expanded worldwide with their signature Supernovas a global favorite!

The company originated in 2012 on the way to Jadees first baseball game to see the Dodgers with her friends, the original Malibu crew, and world-renowned animal activists. Jadee recounted the moment “The sun appeared 10x the size and followed us with an unforgettable golden glow and I thought wow, everyone needs to see and feel this Malibu sun. Then I shouted, that’s it, Malibu Suns!”
My friend and mentor Sara Wan agreed that was the perfect name for my sunglasses company and said well, you’d better trademark that, and I did!”

Since the beginning, all Malibu Suns are engraved or painted with LOVE with a portion of sales to help nature and wildlife conservation, or our other focus for support, women’s shelters.

You are the Sunshine

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Throughout my life, I’ve always felt the calling to follow my passion in my work, and to further learn about myself and the world, in doing so I found my purpose of creating my own life journey and spiritual evolution and sharing that with others is a blessing.

I started in the fashion industry with my modeling career which led to my interest in fashion designing and fine arts. To support myself through university I also worked with many retailers mostly in sales and managerial positions so I’ve always been involved in the industry in some way and learned almost all areas of the business.

My true passion is bringing joy and helping people look good, feel good, and enjoy being themselves and I think this genuine care helped my success as a business person.
My true desire is to help people see the beauty within themselves and experience confidence which is the key to style. MALIBU SUNS® has allowed me to connect this passion and creativity into a tangible business covering all my key interests.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?

They say no regrets, and all in divine timing but if I could go back and know what I know now, I would start sooner. I believe having an interest, business, or creative project that is uniquely yours, that you can express yourself and form a point of focus, productivity, and creativity will always be positive.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?

I think succeeding in any field means truly enjoying who you are when you do what you do. Of course, there will be areas in all businesses that are not your favorite part but having a genuine passion for your line of work is important to help navigate any difficulties that can arise, to make it all worth it.

For me, it is the genuine joy of knowing what a pair of MALIBU SUNS can do for someone’s day, for all ages and all occasions, whether it be creating the perfect style, highlighting a fun experience, bringing a smile and sense of comfort and individuality to someone’s journey, to encourage adventures to live life fully, or also importantly to help them see safely and protect their eyes! Malibu Suns have always been inspired by love, with every pair engraved with LOVE in LA.
Malibu Suns have also helped support women’s shelters, protect native wildlife, and preserve their habitats. That we can inspire and make such a difference is a huge initiative for any business owner.

Having a genuine passion for what you do is the ultimate success because it’s our inner joy and purpose and what we bring to others that is the true definition of success.
