We were lucky to catch up with Jade Rodriguez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jade, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I take pride in my work because of the time it took me to learn and perfect my craft. A lot of trial and error. I first picked up a camera when I was in 8th grade. So imagine what younger me thought photography was… but I was actually really good. My inspiration was National Geographic and Dell desktop screensavers. From then on, I knew I wanted to be a photographer.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a multifaceted artist located out of South Jersey. Not only do I specialize in photography, but I include graphic design, art classes & branding packages through my business. What makes me different from a lot of other creatives, is that I put my clients first. That’s also outside of being very dreamy and cinematic with my photography style. I try to make every booking a special moment. Being personable with the client, quick with delivery and providing top tier service. I have an extensive background in customer service. I’ve learned to never let clients get under your skin. At the end of the day, they’re spending their hard earned money on you. The least you can do is make them feel good and deliver some fire photos. We’re trying to break the internet!

How did you build your audience on social media?
If I could give anyone advice on building their social media platform, BE YOURSELF. Post content… consistently! Go to a lot of events, network, but you gotta be fly doing it. That’s what got my personal blog (instagram) the traction it has now. The traction from there, followed to my business social media. I also have a lot of trades on my belt. Don’t be afraid to try something new and master it. Be careful what you share, you never know who’s watching. So be tasteful, respectful and unapologetically YOU.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
What’s mostly rewarding about being a creative, is the recognition I get behind every project. Whether it’s good or constructive criticism, I look forward to that the most. I always want to find new ways to upgrade myself or my brand. I change everyday. Today’s price, is not yesterday’s price.
