We recently connected with Jade Patteri and have shared our conversation below.
Jade, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Well to start, I’ve been a part of so many projects that I would consider meaningful and completely life changing. With that said it’s so hard to choose just one that was “the most” meaningful. However for today I’m going to talk about a recent project I just did, which is my new song and music video called “PTSD.” This record and music video was incredibly meaningful for me to create. Especially since it’s a song about the specific emotions and experiences I had in high school, along with other topics that I touched on that I hoped someone would be able to relate too. PTSD was very therapeutic for me to write and the video incorporated so many of my friends that have helped me heal from that trauma I experienced in high school. Basically it was a very full circle moment and it was so cool to have their help recreating something painful that I chose to use to turn into art. Making this song and video helped remind me to always stand up for myself while still choosing to be kind with my words. Lastly thank you to my team at KB Recording for standing by me and helping create this piece because it was truly such a special project that I will remember forever!
Jade, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into this industry at a very early age! My parents are also professional entertainers so it definitely ran in my genes. I grew up watching my parents perform onstage and was lucky enough to be taught by them and their mentors as well. I began working professionally at age 9 when I booked my first World Premiere show and I’ve been singing, dancing, acting and writing ever since! I feel so blessed to have been able to work as an entertainer now for the past 14 years. What sets me apart in my job I believe is my morals, convictions and mindset in this industry. I love what I do but I do not say yes to every job I get because I always want to stay true to who I am. Especially in my music I try to make sure I come off supportive, kind and real while making sure I never use my platform to tear other people down. I’m a pop/rock musician however I’m also a dancer, actress and choreographer so I will say I love finding ways to incorporate as many of these art forms as I can into my music! That I believe also sets me apart in my craft as well.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect in being a creator (in my opinion) is seeing how your art impacts others! I love making people smile, laugh, cry and feel. I believe being able to feel emotions is one of the biggest blessings we experience as human beings and I love that I’m in a profession where I’m able to make people feel something. When I hear someone tell me how my music or acting or dance made them feel it reminds me why I do this in the first place. I’m so grateful to be in the position I am and I will always create for this specific reason.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal in this industry is to hopefully be a light. I want to be a positive voice in an industry that’s filled with negativity. I also look forward to improving in who I am as a person everyday to better accomplish this goal.
