We were lucky to catch up with Jade Hustler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jade, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of the key traits of a creative is risk taking.. I personally, am not afraid to put something new out into the world that might be laughed at. The moment you don’t mind being dismissed as crazy or unusual you often generate the most innovative ideas.I’m not a fan of being stagnant or wasting my fears on should’ve could’ve would’ve! I am the walking proof of failing & trying again, but I’m also the walking proof & well respected for coming out on top when I’ve failed.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I currently run a Lush shop located in Germantown, TN at the Saddle Creek Shopping Center, produces creams, soaps, shampoos, shower gels, lotions, moisturizers, fragrances, scrubs, toothpaste tablets, masks and other cosmetics for the face, hair, and body using only vegetarian or vegan recipes. All products are fresh by hand using little or no preservative or packaging, using only vegetarian ingredients, and tell you when they were made. I own digital ice machines throughout the city. And currently in the works of creating a black historic coffee shop!

Have you ever had to pivot?
This year I had to walk away from the entertainment industry. I started my own modeling agency which then lead to a booking agency, managing rappers & producers. I had an opportunity to travel, meet some great artist & music gurus, but the industry was depressing.. Everyone else around me was so energetic, upbeat, & always excited. On the outside I projected the same energy but deep down inside I was the most unhappy I had ever been in my entire life. My reasons for managing & developing clients was pretty authentic however I can’t say it was always reciprocated or appreciated. Real story, I had an incident that happened in Atlanta & I literally surrendered to GOD & told him I was giving up on everything I had worked on, people I worked with, and that I didn’t mind being uncomfortable so I can have a clear vision on what I should be doing. I was ready for my actual calling… I deleted all my socials , business emails, business & personal number, I even moved to be free of any temptation or backtracking.
That was definitely the best decision of my life because now I’m helping people with self care ! Introducing them to vegan handmade cosmetics, that not only produce great results but are environmental friendly. Knowing I can be of assistance to not just someone’s presentation but inner confidence of just simply making them feel good makes me so happy! I still travel quite often and literally everything I’ve learned from entertainment world I’ve applied to a Health & Wellness industry. That journey wasn’t a waste .. it prepared me for this moment.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Unlearn that the lesson in entrepreneurship is making money, cause no it’s about fate! As an entrepreneur, creative, even as an individual accept what comes your way. Because what comes your way is your fate! I thought the lesson from entrepreneurship & creativity was about the money but it definitely had something else to teach me. My skin grew thick from many situations and yet I remained extremely sensitive at other times. It seems quite contradictory, I know! But think about it like this, I went through a core change! Though I had in fact become sensitive to things that mattered, I was beginning to selectively ignore things (and people) that didn’t matter. Life was now about choices. We are never unhappy – we choose to be unhappy. But equally we have the choice to be happy. My focus was now based on energy. Energies in unproductive areas is a luxury few entrepreneurs can afford. Maybe that’s why no one sees a bunch of entrepreneurs huddling around a coffee machine discussing organizational politics. They would rather spend the time, striking a deal or discussing changing trends and how they may gear for these. I chose to be happy – because I knew there was much to be done and it takes the right drive and state of mind to achieve the ‘near impossible!
