We were lucky to catch up with Jade Chung recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jade, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
The seeds of my practice were planted a little over 2 years ago, as a way to meet practicum clients when I was training to become an Art Therapist. I’d quit my corporate job, I had hours of fieldwork to fill and I wanted to explore working in this new field with different populations around the world – so I’d offer sessions for free through online marketing. That’s literally how it all started.
And then very organically, it all started to blossom! I built a small community, I started offering therapy groups, and turns out I loved working for myself, and working online. I loved the flexibility and freedom that this offered me, and I loved how much I was being challenged creatively, mentally and spiritually as an entrepreneur. I self-taught and learned how to build systems, structures, websites, marketing, and really allowed myself to have fun with it,
With that said – growing a business isn’t always easy (it was up and down for me!) and working for yourself can feel isolating. Eventually I hired a few mentors who really supported me become more efficient in business, who stretched my mind, and I continued to learn myself, to develop my own skill set. These were all really important steps.
I do believe everything happens for a reason and we learn from every single experience, positive or negative – but knowing what I know now, I would have asked for support sooner. I would have hired my first business coach sooner than I did, so I didn’t feel so alone – and I would have leaned more on my friends and family more. I had this hyper-independent, “I got this!” attitude back then that actually probably held me back.
If you’re considering starting your own practice – I believe it’s crucial to have a mission, and to really always come back to it. This is your fire, your purpose, your why, what lights you up, and this is what keeps you going when times are hard. Your mission might evolve over time, but as you begin the journey…. make sure it’s clear to you and keep it close to your heart.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jade Chung, and my work in this world is really all about healing, expansion and empowerment – mind, body and soul. I guide women into their highest expression, to a way of life where they feel strong, connected, creative, supported, and really able to show up as their most authentic selves. I truly believe that every single of one of us on this planet is made of magic, have really incredible gifts that are often squashed and silenced – and my mission is to bring women back into their power.
By training I’m an Art Therapist and Integrative Trauma Practitioner, I’m also deeply intuitive and work in the realm of energetics and the healing arts. Over the past few years, through my own healing journey and what I’ve learned as a practitioner in these fields, I’ve developed a very unique and comprehensive healing method that’s allowed for the most amazing results.
As humans we’re each multifaceted – or as I say, multidimensional. There is so much richness to us, and self-development to me is really all about expanding in that richness. When we’re brought back to the abundance of color, shape, form, beauty that lives within us, we bring the shadows and shame that keep us “stuck” in life, into opportunity and liberation. In my programs and containers, I combine emotional healing and psychotherapy with creative play, powerful somatic healing, nervous system reprogramming, and energetic work.
The healing “work” gets to be incredibly fun. Yup!
I always say – I’m the person you come to when you’ve been to talk therapy for 5 years, you’ve seen doctors about your chronic pain, you’ve taken pills and you’ve tried journaling, affirmations and habit-stacking, and none of it has. “worked”. When you’re really ready set yourself free of the patterns, anxiety, coping mechanisms, subtle addictions, and cycles of stress, to make radical shifts in your life – I’m here. I believe life gets to give to you and life gets to feel really good, for all of us.
We have an incredible, heart-centered, generous community of women in my world who I am so proud of, who are so devoted to their own joy, truth, and expression. Sisterhood is something that is so missing in society, and one of the most deeply healing and empowering things in this world to be genuinely held and seen by other women. The sisterhood is one of the most incredible things I have developed in my practice.
Also the creativity. Bringing that back. We get to be children, we get to play, and this also gets to be healing!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Authenticity! There is nothing more important as a strategy than to literally be yourself- in all of your color, magic, unfiltered. Authenticity is the most magnetic thing, that draws your aligned clients to you. You could have the best email funnels and spend thousands on ads a month, but people are intuitive and intelligent. If they come into your space and don’t feel you being REAL – they probably won’t stay in the long term. You are your own greatest asset.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Switching from corporate to creative entrepreneurship was massively challenging for me. I had attached so much of my identity to my corporate job, my sense of self-worth was tied to the ‘success’ of my past career, that when I pivoted and decided to start from what felt like ground 0 then, it was a shock to the system. I could have called that an existential crisis, it was actually when I would say I hit rock bottom in my life. There was a lot of healing and grieving I had to do to come to terms with the change, and a lot of learning to trust myself again, to believe that I COULD (even when no one else did).
At the end I came out so much stronger and more powerful. More clear in my vision than ever. It was definitely a Phoenix rising from the ashes period. I now bring this wisdom to my clients in their times of transition and change!
