We recently connected with Jadah Queen and have shared our conversation below.
Jadah, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I have been a dancer since 1992 and when the pandemic hit I strived to find a different way to express myself from home. I signed with a reputable talent agency in Dallas entitled The Linicomn agency and I began acting. I took classes and learned from the best but realized that acting is full of highs and lows. Not exactly a job I could do full time. I decided to open up a Tiktok account and shared my creativity on the platform. I grew a large following very quickly and discovered that it was something I could do from home, as a Stay at Home Mother of 6. A Social Media Agency, TTPM, found my account and I signed with them. With social media and acting as a pair I was able to consistently be booked and bring in a full time income. Shout out to my agents because I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this full time without them booking me as often as they do. A few of the major reasons I saw such success is that I treated both as my career. With social media, I posted 3 times a day, signed up for courses that train content creators on how to make the best content, I learned the best times to post, studied other creators and most importantly stayed true to who I am. If I had to create content that wasn’t already something that I am passionate about it would be a nightmare to make this a career. Social Media allows for me to express myself the way that it does because I post about things that are a part of who I am. It draws like minded individuals to my page and it brings a joy to my life that I never thought social media would bring. With acting, I took classes, studied professionals, and auditioned every time I received a casting call. Ninety percent of the auditions I wouldn’t land but I DID learn something from each one. Each audition taught me a lesson and it got me more and more comfortable in front of the camera. Combining social media and acting really created a perfect career for me to work from home, express myself to the world, and find joy and passion in my life.
Jadah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My main goal is to share joy, light, and positivity into the world. My social media is a platform that is geared towards moms, cheerleaders, dancers, and Jesus followers. Out of those four things I have created a large following who come along for the ride of this crazy thing called life. I am a mom of 6 and I strive to be a positive role model for my kids by letting them see you can chase after your dreams and do anything you set your mind to. Excellence is only attainable because God has created us as masterpieces. My hope is that my followers recognize their worth and value, and that they know they were created for greatness. We have a duty to love others and bring joy to the atmosphere that we are in. Follow me on social media Tiktok: @officialjadahqueen as well as my Instagram account @officialjadahqueen so that you can experience this journey with the Queen family.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Perfection! I always want to come off as having my life together. Unfortunately, that just isn’t true. There are challenges no matter where you are in life. I discovered that genuinely being yourself and sharing your life experiences tends to draw the crowd that you actually want. If I try to portray a perfect life, it isn’t sustainable and it is draining more than it is a release for me to express myself and spread joy.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Being consistent is key. Social Media is a fast paced, in your face platform that you can easily get lost in. When it comes to creators, if you post 3 times a day, similar content, and stay true to who you are people will begin to see you. Being seen is a big aspect of growing a following but creating QUALITY content is most important. Once people find your account, what makes them stay? Do you have educational content, entertaining content, relatable, impressive? The algorithm is fickle and one day your content is going to be put in front of a large audience. When this audience clicks on your profile will they like the other videos they see? I have found that authenticity helps this profession to be long lasting. Creating facades will get tiring and old fast, people will see through the act. Being yourself and loving what you do jumps off the screen and it is a genuine energy that makes people connect with you. Following your favorite creators is obvious because we naturally do that, but it’s okay to learn from them. What do they do that you like? How can you apply some of their techniques with your own personality? How can you cater their style with your expertise? Lastly, be present, stay with the trends, but include your following in your life. Let them become your friends. The second you don’t enjoy it anymore, it may be time to find a new profession, Social Media is not for the faint of heart. In the same breath, disconnect with the negativity. Let social media be a place to enjoy who you are and express your identity with confidence. Don’t allow negativity to enter your circle. Delete, block, whatever it takes to redirect your eyes on positivity. There are trolls out there just waiting to comment, but we don’t have to let them be in our space. We can choose who affects us, and a mean stranger on the internet doesn’t get an invitation to my party. Some people enjoy the confrontations but personally I walk away and I don’t engage. I have an entire 285K+ people who love me and I don’t need to make anybody want to be around me. If I have to beg you to love me, do I even want your love? Be unapologetically you and enjoy what you do!
