We were lucky to catch up with Jada Ross recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jada , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I want to leave a go-getters legacy. I’m going to show those after me that they can create the life they want. I’ve always moved like this world is mine and I know that the blessings that God has for us are limitless. I want to be an example of how to be unapologetically you, yet genuine and faith based. I hope the life I lead can help push people to create, to find beauty in themselves and in the world in front of them, and most importantly to never sleep on themselves.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a teenager in high school I realized that I could create; I also realized that I had hustle in me that came with that creativity. I took what I knew, pulled an all-nighter, and put a business plan together with a friend of mine. We started off selling painted collages and decorated mason jars to our peers at the high school for Valentine’s Day. My mom had taught me how to make chocolate covered strawberries, so I was like “Bet.” Cherry on top. I added that into our equation and we were booming, split the profit 50/50. I took to Facebook with my cheesecake filled strawberries and I had people hooked. I was making multiple deliveries daily, touching every part of Memphis and getting so much love. The buzz just kept going so I decided to own it, birthing what is now Ja’s Treat Haven.
I’m proud that I bet on myself. The Haven has helped me inspire a number of people and has connected me with my community in Memphis in a positive way, which is really important to me. I want my future clients as well as my followers to know that I take pride in what I create, and I plan to continue to flood the city with my love.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
As a young entrepreneur, it’s vital that I feed my mind with positive and useful information. I give my mom credit for the simple act of introducing me to Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill, as well as Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. Before my mind had fully developed enough to even fully comprehend the lessons these two books were teaching me, she had me reading them out loud to her. Unknowingly, I was wiring my brain with the knowledge I need on my journey. Hill, Kiyosaki, and speakers like Les Brown have helped me combat my negative thoughts. Their philosophies are among many that have solidified my faith in the vision God has shown me coming to life once I put in the work that’s necessary.

How did you build your audience on social media?
To my surprise I’m able to consider Facebook as the Haven’s foundation. I started off with one listing on marketplace to now being fortunate enough to need a website to fulfill my businesses needs. A large portion of my customer base is social media sourced and I’ve recently been able to expand into entertainment services. With that being said, my advice to all business owners and creatives is to just post it. I think sometimes we can really underestimate the power of social media. When you start out, the traction may not be there, but they see you! Consistency is the hardest part, but it pays. We have to start somewhere to elevate. I really believe social media platforms are the most accessible tools that we have access to that have the power to take you from point A to point B.
