We recently connected with Jada Chevalier and have shared our conversation below.
Jada, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Starting my business was both exciting and scary once everything became official. I never saw myself as a business owner, but after creating content for a marketing company in 2021 and rebranding my socials around my diabetic foodie lifestyle in 2023, I realized I was already moving like a businesswoman. When brand opportunities grew, I decided to make it official and turn my passion into something bigger than social media.
My idea came from a gap I noticed. I didn’t see other foodies showing the specific foods, places, or positive energy that exist for diabetics. So many people, not just diabetics, but anyone watching their carb or sugar intake, are looking for ways to enjoy good food without guilt. What I offer speaks to that. It’s about creating balance, not restriction, and highlighting the delight that comes with living mindfully.
My mom was a big part of bringing Jada’s Balanced Bites and Beyond LLC to life. She’s been with me through my journey with Type 1 diabetes, so her opinion on the name meant a lot. We wanted something that truly reflected the mission, not just about being careful with what I eat, but about living fully, having awareness, and finding confidence through it all.
I knew this idea would work because no one else was doing what I was doing, not in the way I was doing it. This isn’t only about food; it’s about expanding into networks and ideas that add real value to the life of a diabetic. There are so many people out there who feel isolated or confused by their diagnosis. My goal is to create a space that’s inclusive for everyone — diabetics, prediabetics, or anyone focused on better health, always keeping a cautious but empowered mindset!
Now, I’m focused on growing through meaningful collaborations and sharing my journey toward getting off insulin. My goal is to show that there’s so much more to life than a diagnosis; it’s about balance, fulfillment, and purpose.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into this industry through a mutual creator friend who knew me from my past marketing work. She saw something in me; the drive and energy that social media was missing, and that inspired me to take the first step: creating a new page for my own brand. From there, everything started connecting. I’m Jada, the creator and founder of Jada’s Balanced Bites and Beyond LLC, a lifestyle brand centered on balance, awareness, and joy, especially for those living with and healing from diabetes.
As a healing Type 1 diabetic, I’ve learned that this journey is about more than food, it’s about freedom, faith, and discipline. My biggest discipline is reminding myself that no one else is doing exactly what I’m doing, so I have to stay ready, honest, and open-eared for the people who come to my page looking for understanding and inspiration.
My work includes creating content for restaurants, hotels, and activities; sharing authentic reviews across Yelp, Google, and TripAdvisor, where I’m an elite reviewer; and collaborating with brands or hosting events that align with mindful, health-conscious lifestyles. I also share diabetic wellness tips and “get off insulin” hacks that have helped me along my healing journey. This is all new to me still but remember that trial and error will happen when you take that leap of faith, keep going!
What sets my brand apart is authenticity. I’m very proud of my growth as a foodie; exploring what truly works and what doesn’t. Beyond being authentic, I want to show that life with health conditions doesn’t have to be limiting. I’m not afraid to be transparent about both the challenges and the victories. Jada’s Balanced Bites and Beyond is more than just a page, it’s a movement about living fully, loving what you eat, and knowing that balance is possible for all of us.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A big lesson I had to unlearn was thinking I needed to have everything figured out, that success would come fast if I just worked hard enough. Coming from my background in marketing, I assumed shifting into content creation would be easy. I had the skills, the creativity, and a vision, so I thought I’d blow up right away. But when I saw everyone else looking so perfect online, it got to me. I started comparing myself, chasing numbers, and trying to fit into a mold instead of building my own lane.
That mindset led to frustration. I realized that creating something meaningful takes time, consistency, and patience. Once I slowed down and actually learned how social media works — how people engage, connect, and respond, I found my flow. Now, I focus less on perfection and more on showing up authentically, trusting that every post and every small step forward build something real!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I’m an extrovert at heart, and I’ve learned that in this business, closed mouths don’t get fed, and I love to eat! What’s helped me build my reputation is always putting myself out there, staying respectful, friendly, and true to who I am. I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not just to be liked, and people feel that genuineness. That’s what keeps real connections forming, not just followers.
Even though I might be considered a micro‑influencer because of my follower count, my insights and reach go far beyond that, and that’s what makes this work worthwhile. The algorithm can’t define your impact. I’ve learned not to let it be front and center when it comes to posting, consistency and authenticity matter more. I stay positive, supportive, and open to new opportunities while understanding that not everyone who smiles at you is your friend. Confidence, respect, and staying grounded have helped me walk into any room ready to turn heads the right way, with energy, purpose, and heart!
