We were lucky to catch up with Jada Bracken recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jada, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
When coming up with my name for my business i wanted something that hit home, but was also unique in its own way. When my brothers and I were kids, we were messing around out of boredom and for some reason we were interested in figuring out the pronunciation of our names backwards. As we were going down the list of names my name read: “Adaj” pronounced like, “A-Dodge” and my brothers and i looked up at each other and we all agreed that that was pretty cool, and i knew for sure i would use that someway somehow one day. When it came down to making the decision on the name I wasn’t too big of a fan of just using my name, but then i remembered that memory of my brothers and I and Adaj photography was born. I just love that adaj is my name just with a lovely twist.
Jada, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jada Bracken, im the youngest of five and im also the only girl. i grew up in Jacksonville Florida and growing up i really didn’t know what i wanted to be or do . Both of parents are very successful and have worked very hard to get where they are in life. For their hard work they were able to provide for my brothers and i a wonderful life full of great experiences and opportunities, I look up to both of them and their sacrifices and dedication and strive to do just as great if not better. My Mom for as long as i could remember has been an entrepreneur and though i didn’t know what it was going to be i knew i was going to be a entrepreneur. I always liked pictures, being in them and taking them. i loved the idea of capturing a memory that you could look back at and appreciate or reminisce on, nothings cooler than that. From as early as middle school i would take pictures and edit them on picnik, as bad as those edits are looking back i still remember the joy it gave me. Fast to high school where i took a photography course that would later be the foundation of where i am today. I started photography as a hobby just for fun, then i started getting inquires about rates, it was then when i realized that i could turn my hobby into a profession. Adaj photography also know as Adaj photography studios provides an all exclusive, diverse, and personal photography experience. What’s most peoples worry’s getting their picture taken? How awkward they feel in front of the lens, or maybe it’s the fact that they just don’t know what to do with their hands, or simply how to pose. I believe the secret behind any great photo is the candidness, and i believe in order to achieve this, the person must feel comfortable. Once they’re comfortable enough to let go, thats when the limitations of their thoughts vanish and confidence flows over and the magic is created. I believe this alone is what sets adaj photography apart form the others. I’m proud of how far I’ve come in the photography game thus far, because no matter how difficult it gets or how self critical i can be, I’ve managed to stick to it and push myself and my craft past any limitations that have crossed my path. I mean even as im writing this article about and for my business im in awe, never did i think i would have the chance so early in my career to have this experience to share my story with whoever stumbles across this article. With that being said, I want anyone that has a hobby, or a skill that they love and you’ve thought about pursuing as a profession to not hesitate but to do it!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I’ll be honest, i’m still figuring this strategy out for myself, but as i’m still in the early stages of my career I’ve found personal connections to be the most effective of strategies. As Human beings we all crave connection and i believe that’s what keeps the world going. I mean, most of the time when you’re looking for a photographer it’s usually referred to you from a family member or a friend, someone that you know and trust. Something my mother use to say was “My work speaks for itself ” and i strongly believe in this whole heartily.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I think my end goal of having my studio and creating the first of its kind is what drives this whole creative journey. It’s seeing my dreams manifest into reality one small step at a time, it just fuels my inspiration and my dedication to learning and growing in my field.
