Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jacynta Harb. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jacynta, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
It all began with a question from my two brothers who came to visit me and surprise me for my 40th birthday! They both showed up where I was working at the time to surprise me. When we were leaving the building, they both stopped me in the parking lot and asked me a great question because everything starts with a great question. My brothers asked me, “What are you doing here?” I replied, “I’m helping people, and I love to help people. They said to me again, “But why are you doing it HERE?”
That was the day that seed was planted for me to become my own business owner and start my own company! The dream began with that simple question and that allowed me to start my own business.
I knew it would take some years, and it actually took approximately three years from their visit for me to launch my own wellness company. The steps began with small steps, hard work, and over time, I was able to launch my company Sparkle Wellness.
I met with a business coach for almost 2 years, who I trusted to guide me and keep me focused. She gave me great advice on how to create my business using my vision and how to reign in my ideas. We decided on the name of the company and then started the business plan. I even went as far as to order business cards. My husband thought I was crazy because I was currently still working at the other company and also on my dream simultaneously.
It was two years later after my brother asked me that poignant question, that I knew it was time for me to resign from the other company. I did it joyfully and professionally knowing that I would be launching my company and doing things the way that I thought would be best to serve my clientele. I was grateful for the 14 years that I served at that company, but I was beyond excited to have the flexibility, creativity, and passion to do something that at one time I thought was impossible!
The business absolutely took off, and it hasn’t stopped since. I started my business without an office, without an assistant, without employees, and with lots of determination and hard work. After five months, I decided to hire an assistant, an accountant, and move into an office.
Two years into the business, it was really booming, and I had several clients that needed more attention. I decided to bring on ambassadors to help me out in various duties with the business. Ambassadors are clients who have been successful in their journey with me and became leaders who are serving back.
Currently, we have 18 ambassadors who are totally amazing and are gifted in many areas who help my company run smoothly, efficiently, and better than I could ever have imagined! We are in our eighth year, and we are so excited to continue our dream of helping others. In March 2020 when Covid hit, my company shifted to online video conferencing meetings. This was a major change that ended up being absolutely the best thing that could’ve ever happened during a challenging time. My company went from servicing local people to going all over the United States. At the same exact time, I decided to start a second business called Sparkle Fitness because I had recently become certified in January 2020 as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer.
I am so grateful to be able to have two businesses that are thriving. Currently, I have plans to upgrade all of my audiovisual equipment to make things run even smoother for everyone!
Being an entrepreneur has been one of the hardest, yet the most rewarding, things! I love everything about it! I even love cleaning my own toilet at the office every now and then! I especially love seeing people reach their goals and dreams and live their best lives and help others do it! I’m just getting this party started! I know the future looks very very bright and sparkly for me and my company!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
My journey into the wellness industry started with my own personal challenge to be healthy, lose weight, and feel better about my overall self confidence. I lost weight with a weight loss company, and they hired me so that I could help other people. I became enthralled with being able to be a part of seeing people transform before my very eyes with my guidance, accountability, and encouragement. I started to realize I had gifts in this area and I became one of the best employees they had and received many awards.
I started to fall in love with coaching others, and I wanted to invest in people’s lives on a more personal level in order to have them create lasting changes. In order to do that, I had to start my own company and brand myself.
My clients now come to me with a myriad of challenges that we work through in order to create a life that helps them be the very best they can be. We tackle weight loss, positive mindset, creating an exercise routine, helping them see that they can achieve anything if they put their mind to it. We focus on meal planning and prepping, focusing on food as medicine, proper rest and sleep, and many vital healthy habits that will last them for a lifetime. We believe in sustainable and livable changes. We don’t believe in extremes! We believe in consistency and making small changes over time that will yield big results.
We have group coaching, private coaching, group fitness classes, and private personal training. We have workshops to help with the emotional eating component that is prevalent among most of my clients. We believe in having a strong and supportive community. That is the thing we’re probably most known for. We love helping one another succeed. We offer online support. We also host live meetings so that we can offer support to anyone no matter where they are in the United States.
Lastly our focus at Sparkle Wellness and Sparkle Fitness is to help the whole person in all areas of their lives whether that’s emotionally, mentally, physically, relationally, or spiritually. We offer support for the total person from head to toe!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In March 2021, Covid took over the country. We had to pivot big time! We were only meeting live, so we began to utilize Zoom video conferencing. After some technological challenges, it has been an absolute asset to the business, and I’ll be forever grateful for that. Now we can reach people all over the United States and be just as effective as being in person, if not even more effective!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We keep in touch with clients on a daily basis through social media and in private groups designed just for my clientele. We keep everything engaging, and we ask a lot of questions to solicit responses from clients. We are big on motivational messages and getting clients to join us in responding helps keep the energy, positivity, and accountability flowing. We foster brand loyalty by using clothing and merchandise with our logo on everything that we do. One of our best compliments was when someone said “it looked like we were a sorority and that we were all one big happy team!”
Many of our events are group events which fosters relationships, connections, and breeds many referrals to others as we invite non-clients to join us in the community as well! We believe in inclusivity, and we love to spread our sparkle to others any way that we can whether it’s a T-shirt or doing a race together. We are always looking to help other people!
