We recently connected with Jacqueline Perry and have shared our conversation below.
Jacqueline, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
Those who know me, understand that I am a “jack of all trades.” Although I’ve worked as a writer/author and digital marketing professional, my dream is to build my skincare line. I would love my friends and family to support me on this journey. Continued support is crucial, whether it’s sharing a social media post, or simply providing encouragement.

Jacqueline, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been featured in the past talking about my digital marketing business, SocialAngel Media Group, LLC, and a brief intro to my skincare business, K-O Naturals. As I get older, I’ve learned that it’s okay to enjoy more than one thing. I’ve always had a passion for skincare, but before now, I never thought about making it into a business. In 2015, I decided to become more serious about it. I thought about the times I would create skincare and haircare products out of my existing products to customize a formula that worked for me – at the age of 12! I didn’t make A’s in chemistry, but I loved mixing and experimenting. By the end of 2015, I developed formulas for an eye serum, body butter, and face cream. I would send samples to friends and family, and most really loved the products.
I eventually worked on the business side, and decided to name my company K-O Naturals. Then, I created the brand, “Good Skin Is in,” which is still in development. The goal is to promote feeling good about, not just your skin, but your overall well-being. I always had problematic skin due to stress, hormonal changes, and poor eating habits. Having skin issues meant using products that didn’t contain lots of harsh ingredients. My ingredients started out simple. I knew that in order to grow, I would need a manufacturer. Just before the pandemic, I was hit with a roadblock. A medspa company disputed my brand name. Not able to afford a trademark attorney, I represented my company. I did lots of research and eventually won! I settled by allowing the company to use the trademark with certain restrictions.
At this point, I felt that my brand would finally begin to thrive. I partnered with a great manufacturer in west Texas that operates in an FDA-regulated facility. This was the beginning of what now seems to be an uphill journey. The challenge is finding the time to really put 100% into my dream. After my father’s death, I instantly became a full-time caregiver while working and receiving help as needed. The toughest battle is over in my opinion. Starting is the first, and sometimes hardest thing to do. The next step is to implement all the steps in between to get to the FINISH. LINE.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I am the “poster child” for NEVER GIVING UP! Throughout my career, I’ve been through more ups than downs, yet, I keep going. I hear this all the time, “You may get a thousand no’s before you get that one ‘yes’.” It’s very easy to quit and avoid the heartache and pain of losing over and over and over again. But, I feel like the pain could be ten times worse, if I give up, and miss the opportunity of a lifetime. It takes courage to go after your dreams, even when there are so many things stacked against you.

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
Currently, my products are available on GoodSkinIsIn.com, with plans to add to Amazon. My company is still very small, and with success comes patience. Success does not happen overnight. I am proud of this journey. For me, success is not just about revenue, it is about making a difference in the lives of others. I want my brand to stand apart from the others. I offer free samples, and I’m contemplating other ideas that will show what my brand truly stands for. My top priority is to always represent quality and affordability.
