We recently connected with Jacqueline Murphy and have shared our conversation below.
Jacqueline, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
When I reflect on the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on, two stand out to me: “The Admired” and “Yellowbird.”
“The Admired” was a true labor of love inspired by my love of the golden days of Hollywood. I used my acting experiences on set with incredible directors like Martin Scorsese, Mike Nichols, Nora Ephron, and Woody Allen. I put my heart and soul into creating, producing, directing, and starring in this film. The journey was challenging but deeply rewarding.
“The Admired” is about an actress who makes a deal with a devil to time travel back to 1940s Hollywood as a big movie star but is hurdled into danger.
Winning over 50 film festival awards and being on the Television Academy’s FYC EMMY ballot was amazing, but what meant the most to me was how it touched people’s hearts and encouraged them to pursue their dreams!
I’m also thrilled to share that “The Admired” is being developed into a TV series called “Sorceress of Hollywood.” The twist here is that the “actress” learns that she has “magic” inside of herself. This series is about empowerment, making it even more special to me.
My latest film, “Yellowbird,” is incredibly close to my heart. It tackles the opioid addiction crisis, an issue that is both personal and pressing. The story follows a pharmaceutical heiress and a substance abuse nurse who join forces to take on big Pharma during the opioid crisis. This film is inspired by my time as a Registered Nurse in New York and the struggles I saw first-hand. I hope it shines a light on this critical issue and helps save lives.
Both projects are so special to me because they show how powerful storytelling can be. They connect us on a human level and have the potential to inspire real change. These films are more than just my work; they are my passion and way of making a difference in the world.

Jacqueline, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I always knew I wanted to be an actress and loved helping people, so becoming a nurse made sense until I could break into acting. This dream came true when I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and was discovered by ABC, landing a recurring role on “All My Children” with scenes opposite Susan Lucci. Now, as an award-winning filmmaker, I create stories that connect us, inspire change, and touch hearts.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Early in my career, I supported myself as a nurse while in acting school. I was going into my shift at the hospital, and in the lobby was a woman who told me she was in labor. I put her in a wheelchair and got her in the elevator to take her up to the Labor and Delivery O.R., but halfway through the elevator ride; she told me her water broke. I saw the water on the floor, bent down just in time, and caught her newborn baby like a football! I felt amazed at myself and thrilled I could rise to the occasion. I remember thinking at the time that if I could deliver a baby in an emergency, I could do anything!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is connecting with people on a deep, emotional level. Whether it’s through acting, directing, or filmmaking, I love creating stories that touch hearts, inspire change, and encourage people to pursue their dreams. Knowing that my work can make a positive impact and resonate with others is truly fulfilling and drives my passion for storytelling. If I can inspire, help, or make a difference for one person, that means the world to me.
