Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jacqueline Lozano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jacqueline, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The seed for my business was planted when I was little. I remember looking at models on Tv and being amazed on how the shades on their eyes looked so seamlessly and flattering and how their skin looked so perfect. I was determined to learn how to create that on my own. I remember my mom always did her makeup so nicely, I enjoyed watching her do her makeup all the time. She knew I loved it, she allowed me to play with her makeup and try all those colorful eyeshadows. I wanted to create the looks I saw the models wear on beauty magazines and TV. My love for makeup grew over the years, I started doing makeup on my friends and their friends in high school for homecoming and prom. I remember meeting with my friend before school started at 7am everyday to help her with her foundation and mascara . I graduated high school and I knew I wanted to continue doing makeup .I worked hard to save money to start my business. I started slow building my clientele, but client after client I got more confidence in myself. I loved how I could make other people feel beautiful and the transformation you can see from start to finish.
Jacqueline, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name Is Jacqueline Carrizales, I have been doing makeup professionally for about 4 years now, and so far it has been the most incredible experience ever. I love being able to create art and making people feel good, and feel confident. I love seeing how makeup can make a person have a whole new sense of confidence because they can see and feel the change through the quality of makeup. I think what sets me apart from others is that I love what I do but mostly I love the genuine connections I make with people through my job. I hear their stories and make them feel seen. Building a clientele and skill both take time but both are worth the wait and effort. I am a makeup artist here in San Antonio , I specialize in professional makeup. I do makeup for all type of occasions. I want everyone to know I love what I do and it shows in my work, this is what I was meant to do in this life and I would not have it any other way.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
For me building meaningful relationships with my clients is important. I want my actions to make my clients feel valued and respected . I think the small actions like that make people want to come back with me again and again. I am always ready to adjust if necessary. I always try to go into it with a good and positive attitude .
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
” Failure is the opposite of success”.. I’ve learned that if you want to succeed you need to experience failure. If there is a failure we have to try to look at it in a positive way and turn it into a success. We have to use failure as a motivation. As I’ve gotten older I don’t see failure as a negative anymore , It is part of the process to success!
