We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jacqueline Cohen-Baity. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jacqueline below.
Hi Jacqueline, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
After I auditioned for various record labels, I was chosen by well-known producers to sing on their tracks. From there, I decided to pursue music in my spare time where I enjoyed learning about music consoles and how tracks are built. After performing and opening for a large music group at a radio function and singing on television shows, I began reaching out to other musicians and music managers. At the same time, I was perfecting both my singing and songwriting. The music I sang was distributed around the world and was played in many clubs from various playlists. Later on, I was interviewed by several radio shows and music magazines from many countries around the world.
I was also honing my craft in cooking, experimenting with various spices and ingredients. I was making flavorful dishes and continued my cooking journey. I went to food shows and had a short stint doing demos of sorbets for a manufacturer. I was asked to show up at upscale retail stores, where customers bought a lot of their products. I knew I wanted to pursue my cooking and perhaps open a restaurant someday, but I wasn’t sure at that time how I would do it. Instead, I created new recipes, showing some of my cooking photos on social media. I received favorable feedback from many people. Inspired by the responses, I assembled a collection of my recipes into a new e-cookbook. Additionally, I had taken acting and writing classes in college, so I infused comedy stories among the recipes. Being a comedy writer, I added something distinctive to the e-cookbook, and fans became even more intrigued. My creative path began with music at an early age, with cooking evolving later along with comedic writing. I have a future video to be launched soon that has all three — music, comedy, and food.
Jacqueline, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My artist name is Jacqine. I have gained notoriety as a prolific singer/songwriter/keyboardist/
I found additional success at a French Film Festival with music licensed in 13 countries by a record label. I also appeared in well-known music magazines with excellent reviews. I then entered a studio where I did every part of the music including drums. I listened to thousands of sounds to pick the ones that I thought fit my music best.
I am currently an independent artist and musician. My music has been played on many radio stations worldwide on which I have been a featured artist. I built up a substantial fan base and performed at several venues in New York City. My musical abilities and skills have expanded to where I can arrange, produce, and assemble very complex instrumental patterns of my composition. Some are film scores and others are in various genres: R&B, Pop, Soft Rock, EDM, Dance, Smooth Jazz, Funk, etc. I started recording at Craig Levy’s studio several years ago: Little Pioneer Cider House. For my very first song,”Notify Me,” I performed all the music except drums. Craig mixed and mastered the song and added drums plus a few of the choral arrangements. Once my song was on the radio for the first time, it was later syndicated to 40 radio stations. Many broadcasters started to play this song and I then did many more studio recordings at Craig Levy’s studio. I added other songs along with “Notify Me” to my first album, “New Direction.” I’ve been invited to interviews on radio shows around the world. Recently, I gained attention from the television and film industries. I’ve had many hours of radio play.
I am promoting my newest album, “Inner Reflections.” Some of my songs have featured recording musicians and performers including Eddie Berg, Craig Levy, Jeff Medina, Akira Komatsu, Janet B., Curtis McCain, Dimitris Korontzis, George Karaisaides, Madz Johnson, David Q. Mckee, Lee Jones, Naomi Andriaanz, Donald Waugh, Scott Marvill, and Matthias Beckmann.
With a rich background in the creative industry, I specialize in a variety of creative services. I also started cooking at home at the age of 15 and traveled later to various countries: Greece, Spain, Canada, England, Mexico, and Italy, where I took two cooking classes. My talents as a well-known vocalist, songwriter, and chef create an immersive experience. I’ve authored an entertaining e-cookbook filled with delicious fusion recipes intertwined with comedy stories written as short, one-act plays. The comprehensive e-cookbook is a collection of my diverse international recipes with flavorful dishes ranging from mild to spicy. I have a knack for combining spices in just the right way so that the balance of flavors is brought out for tasteful and aromatic meals. My e-book is a combination of culinary delights and laughter in an almost 600-page compendium.
My website is jacqine.com. Jacqine is also my brand. I offer interactive sessions from virtual cooking classes to mentoring: songwriting, cooking, and musical comedy. I offer a unique blend of custom services to bring people together for an enjoyable and enriching culinary experience. My goal is to save people both time and money, and make cooking easy, fun, and efficient. I have cooking tips in my e-book to help anyone with a busy schedule. On this culinary journey of global cuisine with a broad array of choices, everyone can find a delicious meal. I aim to deliver experiences that delight and educate. But what truly sets me apart is my e-cookbook combines flavorful recipes with engaging short plays. The main character is Harold Stimkin, who goes on a far-ranging journey in search of food and fulfillment.
I will also look to add a QR code later with songs, comedy, and sound effects when purchasing with the e-book. Readers will enjoy an adventure of song, sound effects, and comedy as they are sautéing vegetables or stirring their favorite soup. In addition, I stared in a video movie trailer based on one of the stories in my e-book.
Flavorful stories come alive in the e-book at the moment that you feel as if you’re part of the story. Maybe, next a movie or screenplay on this? I’ll see what comes.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Having independence as an entrepreneur coincides with my creative journey. In a volatile world where finances are not guaranteed in some jobs, it’s important to diversify assets, plan well, follow up, and be adaptable and persistent. Self-reliance and control are two things I’ve learned. Hard work, skill development, determination, and patience are essential to the interaction of efforts and results.
I have set my own goals for my music and my e-book and they are progressing well towards my desired outcome. My mission is to inspire people to work towards goals with the potential to achieve them. I also celebrate every milestone when I win. Equally valuable is to identify when to change course if goals are not going according to plan. I changed paths a few times and decided how I was going to achieve what I set out to do. Through my music, I have helped people realize they can write a song well. With my food preparation and recipes, I showed people they could cook meals at home. Using my comedy, I brought laughter to people. In my music, I empowered people to find their strength to put a positive spin on a challenge. People told me that my messages resonated with them, and it helped them. Every day is a new day to try. I discovered an interconnectedness between messages and replies. I also had guidance along the way directing me to where I want to be. Without that guidance people get lost and don’t know what to focus on, leading to impulsive decisions. Some people find guidance through experience whereas others find someone willing to mentor them, but I feel it is essential to follow your intuition and look for signs along the way.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
My art of music, cooking, and comedy connects me to my emotions. They are outlets to channel energy into what drives me to my next goal and aspiration.
Music has a powerful way of creating a feeling of determination and willpower. Also, lyrics and music can change the mood of a song. When people relate to the messages I send out, I feel a great sense of accomplishment that they can apply my song to their own experiences. Communicating through my music is also how I can self-reflect. Music enables me to imagine what will follow. Just as there are infinite patterns of music that can provide expression, there are many ways that people can adapt to an ever-changing world.
Cooking at home brings me happiness. I love hearing from people about the photos they see of my cooking. They ask for recipes and ask me questions on how they too can cook my recipes at home.
Comedy helps me to relax. If there is ever is an unexpected disappointment or challenge, I can tell stories that make such experiences laughable. For example, salespeople sometimes have pressure to produce results and it’s stressful. Comedy can take that weight off and may help people relieve an overwhelming feeling. I have found comedy leads to a good solution as well, helping my endeavors and achievements.
I love combining music, cooking, and comedy. Having great food, music, and laughter together is one of the best experiences in the world!
