We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jacqueline Allison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jacqueline below.
Jacqueline, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My newest series of mountain and sky paintings is inspired by the words of naturalist John Muir, whose reverence for the wilderness is legendary. Muir wrote of the mountains as living beings and of nature’s power to restore the human spirit. In these paintings, I sought to capture that same sense of awe—moments where color, light, and atmosphere dissolve the boundary between earth and sky. Through layered blends of acrylic, I followed the transitions of day into night; sunshine into storms: golds giving way to rose, clouds dissolving into deep indigo, ridges silhouetted in glowing contrast. The painting titles are drawn from fragments of Muir’s words and reflect his vision of interconnectedness and harmony in the wild.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an abstract painter drawn to the emotion and energy found in nature — especially the mountains that have always felt like home to me; especially since my husband and I moved to the North Georgia Mountains in 2017. My work explores that connection through color, movement, and layered texture, creating pieces that invite wonder, strength, and a strengthening of our relationship with the natural world. Art has always been a part of my life, but after years in the corporate world, I realized that creativity wasn’t something I could set aside — it was essential to who I am. What began as a quiet return to painting grew into a passion, and my work evolved from realism to abstraction and now to abstracted realism. Today, I’m most inspired by the feelings that nature evokes rather than its literal appearance — the peace felt before sunrise, a ray of light glimpsed through mountain peaks, or the dynamic beaty of a storm. My paintings are about emotion, transformation, and connection. Collectors and designers often tell me they’re drawn to the joy expressed in my work. My hope is that each painting offers something that resonates on a deeper level long after a first glance. What I’m most proud of is finding my authentic artistic voice, which continues to grow and evolve. Every painting is part of that journey, an exploration of beauty, emotion, and meaning through abstraction.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of my work is a desire to connect — to transform emotion and energy into color and form. My purpose is to create art that helps people feel inspired, uplifted, or simply reminded of the beauty in nature that surrounds us.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is creating something that resonates with others — when someone relates to a painting on an emotional level or tells me it brings them a sense of happiness. Knowing that something I’ve created can lift their spirit, even in a small way, is very important to me.
