We recently connected with Jacoby Caldwell and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jacoby thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I can up with the name “ cobyyoudidthattt “ back in 2022. One of my favorite photographers just starting out was Dariusyoudidthis, so I just took inspiration from one of my favorites photographers while putting my own spin on it. As of the business side I really just wanted to bring people together with my camera if that was events, pictures, videos, or etc I just wanted to be the reason people had a good time. I knew this would be worth the endeavor when I seen how people responded to my work, so many smiles, laughs, tears of joy, and excitement would be shown by others when they would see my work. Logically I just knew this would all work out not cockiness, but confidence in what I’m doing that’s how I truly knew. I believe I’ve been, so unique in many ways with my approach and ideas along my journey. I don’t see anymore in the Houston/ Baytown Tx area doing what I’m doing which is why I believe I stick out so much with my craft of art.
Jacoby , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Jacoby, but I go by Coby my name in my field I go by is Cobyyoudidthattt or Mr. YouDidThattt. I’m a 19 year old up and coming photographer, videographer, and story teller. I got into my craft just by wanting to be a content creator mainly with YouTube at the time when I first started. Being inspired by all different types of YouTubers from DDG, Cashnasty, Poudii, and smoothGio just to name a few. I later discovered Vuhlandes on YouTube in the camera world, and I instantly became a huge supporter. His body of work is like no other he’s one of my biggest inspirations in this field. I provided creativity with my projects I also provided a story and deep meaning with what I do. When you come across one of my projects or just anything I do I believe you leave inspired after. I believe what sets me apart is my drive I really want to be a huge inspiration to my peers, people younger than me, and also people older than me. I’m really just trying to be something special in this world which I believe I’m on the right path with doing exactly that ! I’m mostly proud of myself I knew this would happen, but it’s always shocking when things you believed you could do actually become your reality, and it’s not such a far reach anymore. I want anyone that works with me, or potentially works with me that when we work together you’re getting a great cameraman, comedian, vibe, good energy, and much more when you work with me. My camera is just a way to get you in the door I be myself to keep your around. What I would like people to know about my work is that it’s only going to get better so stay tuned so you never miss out
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met all my business partners over the course of my life. All my business partners are literally my family from Bub (Adrian Garcia), Z (Zaria Mannon), JR ( Jacob Rosas ), D (Derrion Crain), Liz ( Lisbeth Garcia), and Kay Kay (Kaysie Rome ) we the Trapsoul Crew. All these people are my family I’ve been knowing Bub since elementary, and everyone else since highechool. Without them I’m literally nothing my team is my foundation I always try my best to show them off/ give them their flowers for helping me on my journey when none of them ever had to, and for that I’ll always appreciate them the most. Having a team is so lethal, and for my team to be my family members just makes the process so much more fun, easier, and ever lasting
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
The way I’ve built up my audience is just by being true, and authentic to myself. There’s no true formula, or at least I haven’t found it yet. The audience I have has purely been built on being genuine, vibes, and love even when it comes to social media it’s the same thing. Me being authentic has got me in peoples faces, and has kept me there for so long rather than keeping an image I’m not true to. My true advice to anyone trying to build a audience is be true to you when you do that you find the people for you when you keep up a image you’re not you have a audience that isn’t true to you in anyway
