We recently connected with Jacob Yoas and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jacob thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Growing up I was surrounded by music. Almost every evening my dad would sit on his chair in the living room strumming his guitar and singing. On occasion my mother would pick it up and play something as well. Almost all my siblings played some kind of instrument. It seemed everyone I looked up to played something and the guitar had the most appeal to me. From the first open mic I ever attended, my parents were always supportive of my love for music. Even to this day they come to many of our shows and it’s an amazing feeling making your parents proud of something you’ve built with their support.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jacob, I play guitar, sing, and write songs for the band The Heartstrings. We’re a country rock band out of central Pennsylvania that performs covers as well as originals. We got our start in 2015 and have been building an amazing fan base ever since. In the last two years we have really made some progress in playing bigger venues and packing the place. This year we took home the 2023 Best Alt Counry Band award at the CPMA’s. The Heartstrings are known to be rowdy with a contagious high energy vibe. We released two new singles in the last few months. The first being “Whiskey River” and the second “Thanks’ to You” both have been performing very well on streaming platforms as well as at our live shows.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the best feelings in the world is when we play a song I wrote and hearing the crowd sing back all the words.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There are so many artists that have inspired me over the years. Currently really love Koe Wetzel, Treaty Oak Revival, and Hardy. But that has changed many times over the years. I originally felt very inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Kip Moore, and a lot of different stuff from the classic rock era.
