We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jacob Stuart. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jacob below.
Jacob, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Although my digital business, Screenwriting Staffing, doesn’t follow the conventional mold of a “Staffing” agency, I appreciate the structured approach of an organization that links job seekers and potential employers. Registering with a staffing agency offers you the possibility of networking with several hiring managers who are actively seeking suitable individuals for their available positions. Our mission at Screenwriting Staffing is to bridge the gap between screenwriters and screenplays and industry professionals in search of new scripts to acquire and writers to hire. The choice of the name, Screenwriting Staffing, was driven by a desire for simplicity and directness.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m an Associate Producer on the feature film CONTROL, slated for release this year. This project was brought to life by the talented two-time Academy Award recipient Kevin Spacey and Lauren Metcalfe, and was recently presented at the Cannes Film Festival by TriCoast Worldwide. Directed by Gene Fallaize and with production overseen by Adam Southwick, the film was shot in London and has caught the attention of the Hollywood Reporter & New York Post: https://nypost.com/2023/06/27/kevin-spacey-wants-his-career-backbut-hollywood-is-skeptical
As a screenwriter and producer, this year has been remarkably busy for me. Although my primary emphasis is on screenwriting, I’ve made significant strides in producing, with projects extending beyond the confines of the United States to international territories.
Throughout this year, I have been involved in projects globally that are at various phases – ranging from the initial stages of pre-production to completion.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My company, established more than a decade ago, had humble beginnings. However, my time spent working on film sets across the country allowed me to build a valuable network of writers, directors, producers, and actors, fostering strong relationships along the way.
The real challenge was earning the trust of paying customers and aligning them with our mission. In my line of business, this trust is primarily built by generating tangible and authentic success stories. Screenwriting Staffing is an online platform that bridges the gap between screenwriters and their scripts and the film and TV industry professionals seeking to buy them or hire their services. Over the past decade, I’ve been instrumental in orchestrating over 300 transactions, including sales, options, writing jobs, and representation agreements, leading to more than 110 successful project realizations. My contributions have aided in the production of acclaimed projects like ‘Bramble House Christmas’ on the Hallmark Channel with Autumn Reeser, ‘Deadly Reunion’ directed by James Cullen Bressack, and ‘Captive’ produced by Pollen Path Entertainment starring Scout Taylor-Compton.
While you’ll see several similar websites promoting success stories, many of them are not genuinely derived from their listings. They often tout successes their members have achieved elsewhere but, since they’re “members” of their site, they portray these successes as their own.
The measure of a successful platform isn’t in the sophistication of its website or the size of its payroll. Ultimately, the creation of genuine success stories is what matters. That’s the key to establishing a solid reputation in this industry.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Social Media – Our site boasts a network of over 100,000 entertainment professionals, positioning us as a significant resource and influential player in the industry. Our expansive network spans social media groups, official social media pages, forums, and blogs.
In situations where the budget for advertising is limited or virtually non-existent, social media is the optimal avenue, as it is entirely free. The growth of your pages and groups leads to increased popularity and visibility. Many newcomers to our site seek reassurance of its legitimacy and activity. Our substantial social media following, coupled with frequent interactions from our members, provides this assurance and shows new members that we are an active, engaged, and an authentic community.
I’d highly suggest any organization, especially when starting out, to learn the power of social media.
