Vital Health offers integrated primary and behavioral healthcare services for mental health disorders, alcohol and drug addiction, co‐occurring disorders and illnesses. Jacob Spellis is the founder and CEO of Vital Health LLC, northwest Ohio’s largest full-service behavioral health center for adults and children. Helping to increase healthcare access to marginalized communities and advocating for mental health awareness and treatment, Jacob is driven by his passion to serve.
As a cancer survivor and person who has been incarcerated, experienced homelessness, abused substances, and had untreated mental illness and dyslexia into his late teens, Jacob is no stranger to overcoming adversity. While incarcerated, Jacob obtained his GED and later graduated from the University of Michigan. Jacob has helped over 250 convicted felons obtain employment and has been the receipt of the Jefferson Award, the University of Toledo Alumni award, the Rising Phoenix award, and the Harold T. and Vivian B. Shapiro award.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Yes in the middle of pandmic and at the peak of my career I was diagnosed with the most rare cancer in my face. I kept working and had faith in god. After going to Clevelands CLinic it inspired me to provide the most quality care for medicade patients. That’s how i started vital health with my wife nicole.
