We recently connected with Jacob Rice and have shared our conversation below.
Jacob, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I’ve been working on my second EP which is a follow up to “Whatever Floats Your Boat”. This is the first time in my career I’ve known exactly where I want to go creatively. These songs have been so fun to write, so easy to come about, and have me so excited. I couldn’t be more confident and proud of the work that’s coming.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m originally from Rutland County in Vermont. I’ve been a storyteller my whole life. I used to write short stories when I was kid and my mom was a big supporter of that part of me. My dad was the one who initially taught me to write songs back in 2006/07. I grew up going to church every sunday, singing and playing in the church band. I think most of my love for music came from my mothers CD collection.
My brand is country music that makes people smile. Mustache, fun shirts, big smile.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Back in March of 2020 I was living in LA working with a producer. We had recorded a really cool artsy collection of songs. After visiting Nashville for the first time with this new project, my producer came back with multiple record deal opportunities. I had meetings with these major labels the first week of April and once COVID hit all those meetings disappeared. Looking back, I remember being resilient and confident in knowing I was good enough to have those opportunities presented and I just needed to continue building my brand and career.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to make peoples lives a little bit brighter and fun. I want to help amplify the good times like taking a boat out on the lake or falling in love.
