We recently connected with Jaclyn Martin, Carly Bitters and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaclyn Martin, Carly Bitters, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
KalloMed Aesthetics was born from our passion for aesthetic medicine, and is a medical spa directed at protecting and enhancing the natural beauty from within each and every patient we care for. We believe in a model of safe, focused care, where we aim to provide each patient with the knowledge basis to determine what is right for them. We formulate an individualized treatment plan curated to each individual patient in order to achieve their aesthetic goals. We prefer a natural aesthetic result and promote procedures that make your body work for you.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We are both physician assistants with years of experience in emergency and critical care medicine as well as aesthetics. We are both very passionate about the study of human anatomy and procedural skills, which was the motivation behind starting KalloMed Aesthetics. We aim to provide safe, simple aesthetics to the Pittsburgh/ South Hills communities. We focus on treatments that stem from making your body work for you, including skin treatments and biostimulatory treatments which we believe will be the future of aesthetic medicine. We strive for a natural refreshed appearance, and not an overfilled, overdone look. We are not afraid to tell someone no, or that a procedure is not indicated or would not be in their best interest, which we feel is imperative to providing safe and responsible care to our patients.
We are medical providers first, and business owners second. I think not coming from a business background, and learning how to grow a small business as we grow has been one of our greatest challenges but also one of our greatest strengths. We approach every patient interaction as a medical provider, and not a business owner, which has only benefitted the growth of our business as our patients recognize this and greatly appreciate it. Putting the medicine first has become the core of our business model, in not only creating great results but establishing loyal and lifelong patients.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is a very important part of owning a business in today’s world. It is how you grow, represent yourself, and connect with your community. We recognized this from the start of KalloMed, and have spent a lot of time investing in growing our brand. We feel the weight of our presence on social media, and feel we should control and create our own content. We also want our patients and community to get to know us, and have strived to be as real as possible on social media as a way to connect. We also aim to support other local small businesses on social media, with a focus on women-owned small businesses, and have hosted several events with other small businesses which was a large part of our first year of growth. We were able to help other businesses grow and in turn also ourselves!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
WORD OF MOUTH. Starting with a small amount of LOYAL clients, and building trust high enough that they feel comfortable recommending you to a loved one has been our most successful strategy of growing our books.
