We recently connected with Jaclyn Johnston and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jaclyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
It all started in 2017 when I took a scary leap of faith by writing and publishing my first book. I had wanted to do it for many years. I was nervous about the reception of it through reviews, let alone if people would even buy it. Furthermore, I needed to figure out how to publish a book. I felt overwhelmed once I finished my book’s rough draft.
So, I hired a book editor to help me with the process, and through this creative endeavor, I published my first book- and gained a new friendship. I had zero expectations that my book would allow me to grow and level up in my writing pursuits. Little did I know that publishing my dream book would create a manifestation of it rising to #1 best-seller status within its category in nine months. It led to the birth of my brand, Manifest It!®, teaching others how to ManiFAST (manifest faster) through a series of manifestation books, a line of journals, a spiritual podcast, and manifestation coaching.
After a few years, I also decided to use my success to pay it forward by helping women publish their dream books. In 2022, I launched Manifest It!® Publishing, working with the same editor and graphic format designer I’ve used since 2017. In a year, we’ve published two #1 best-selling books. We hope another book we are about to publish in a few weeks will also rise the ranks to #1 best-selling status.
Jaclyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Growing up, I’ve always had a curiosity for spirituality. Science was my favorite subject in school, but I was also good at writing and enjoyed reading literature. As I matured, I realized we live in a “this and that” existence, not a “this or that” existence, often taught to us about life. By universal law, everything exists simultaneously in the Universe. Why limit ourselves when there is no “competition” in the world? People place limits on others because they place limits on themselves- thus creating the illusion of competition.
As an adult, I merged my curiosities for spirituality and science in my manifestation books. I published the “Don’t Feel Stuck!” guidebooks to help you shift your limiting beliefs and create desired manifested outcomes for your life. If “success” can happen for others, why can’t it happen for you, too?
But it doesn’t stop there. Within each of us is a teacher who can help guide others toward their soul’s highest happiness. We all have access to success- your self-actualization through your life’s meaningful purpose.
Therefore, I took my published books and manifestation coaching and leveled up some more by creating Manifest It!® Publishing. It highlights and helps aspiring self-help and spiritual writers become officially published authors- even #1 best-selling authors! What sets us apart from other publishers is that authors receive higher royalty payouts than they would from different publishing companies. Publishing a book can be scary, but I’m here, and my team is here to help you every step of the way. Your dreams of becoming an officially published author with Manifest It!® Publishing will help you lay the proper groundwork for future success in your career’s journey.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategies for growing my clientele in my niche are SEO, search engine optimization, and collaborating with business owners and creatives within the same niche. Using social media strategy alone is going to work differently than it did before 2020. Yes, SEO algorithms constantly change, but you should still drill down within your niche industry using SEO because the clientele will buy from you- even if they don’t follow you on social media or comment on your posts. Furthermore, collaborating with business owners and creatives within the same industry is a budget-friendly way of expanding your clientele and their trust in you and your work.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an author and publisher as a creative artist is throughout this journey, I have found my soul’s “tribe.” Growing up and even today, in some situations, I often feel like an alien living on this planet. I have a high level of empathy and compassion that many want to label as “too sensitive,” “intense,” or “emotional.” Even though I am also highly analytical, my anxiety increases when others mislabel and don’t want to understand me. But having gone down the writing and publishing path since 2017 and embracing myself for who I am rather than who I should be, I found a community of souls similar to me in their personalities and characteristics. I feel less lonely because of my creative pursuits in my blossoming brand and business. I feel very grateful for this, too. I have learned not to take anything for granted.
