We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jaclyn Bradley . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jaclyn below.
Hi Jaclyn, thanks for joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I love this life. Charles Bukowski’s epitaph reads, “Don’t Try.” I think this simple, yet profound statement is the secret to a life in a creative career. If the arts light you up, the path will appear. You just have to be brave enough to follow it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When I was 4, I’d watch music videos daily on MTV. I just knew I’d have a life surrounded by music and the arts. It wasn’t a goal, but an inner knowing. I studied and worked very hard, but most of all, I jumped when opportunity presented itself.
Some of the wildest jumps were serving as Danny Bonaduce’s PA for two seasons on his Vh1 show, competing on The Voice of Holland, writing for TV and film in LA, opening my own music school, and conducting a live music therapy study in 200 cancer surgeries.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Bad things don’t happen to bad people. When we can learn to love and be thankful for our challenges, well, that’s just grace.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
