Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jackson Kirchhoff. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jackson, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I genuinely think about the fact that I get to earn a living making art every single day. Being a tattooer is the only job I’ve been good at and enjoyed. I try to keep things in perspective when I’m having an off day. I’ve had regular jobs in the past and I was never good at them nor did I like waking up in the morning because of that. I try to remember how much I disliked having a regular job when I’m having a hard time being grateful for the life I have now. I will never have a regular job again.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jackson Kirchhoff (or @goatnap on instagram) and I am a tattoo artist based in Philadelphia. I specialize in illustrative black and grey tattooing. My favorite subject matter to tattoo consists of skulls, bones, flowers and random objects. I work in both flash and custom designs. I try everyday to bring my clients ideas to life and to design tattoos that look good now and age well into the future.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
While I acknowledge the artistry that goes into some NFTsI think it would be way cooler if young people were as into buying and selling physical art. That being said, technology will March on so I could see NFTs being around for the foreseeable future.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Every time I get tattooed I feel more like me. I know the way I feel when I get off the table and get to see my new tattoo for the first time in the mirror. The only feeling in my life that is better than that is when I get to give that feeling to others. So I strive to make cool tattoos that give people that feeling.
