We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jackson Black a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackson , thanks for joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
The best investment I ever made was signing up and in turn being accepted in to the JPWA. I was able to sit under the learning tree of Dr. Tom Prichard trainer to the best of the best wrestlers on the planet. With everything there is a gamble but this has been my dream for as long as I can remember and the gamble has started to pay off. While the time I spent at the JPWA was invaluable, learning from the legend himself wasn’t to bad either. Biggest lesson this is not ballet
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Well I have been at this for a little under a year and the knowledge I have accrued in the amount of time is immeasurable. From sit downs with veteran workers to all the fans I can say with all that is me we could not do this with out the love and support of the fan base. To look back in this short amount of time and see what I have accomplished is amazing to me. As to what sets me apart I am built for this, I am electric with a microphone in my hand and I am The California Dream. I also am a part of an amazing Television show locally here in Knoxville, Tn called Wrestle Talk live with my other host Joel Lawson and we have welcomed over eighty guests giving up and coming wrestler sometimes there first television appearance.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes my goal has always been in the industry is to make it to the big lights of NJPW in Japan and headline the Tokyo dome. I want to be the guy that other wrestlers say I got to wrestle him. So I strive to be the best and I won’t take no for an answer, you will see in bright lights in the land of the rising sun The California Dream Jackson Black and that’s just the way it is.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
This is a good question because when I first started training I had to completely relearn how to do a lock up, coming from the world of amateur wrestling I always locked up on the opposite side so that was a hard one to break.
