We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jackie Silva. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jackie below.
Jackie , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
The legacy that I am hoping to build is that I will rise by lifting others. There is much more but, it is deeper than I can fully express in words.
I am a strong believer of treating others with respect, being a person of my word, and standing up for what is right and pointing out the wrong. Being kind and a genuine person without angles, and supporting others expecting nothing in return and to refrain from all negativity.
These are just a few that I, with all humbleness, can name. Life is stressful enough and the business world already has it’s own challenges. Our time and energy should be spent supporting others and helping our communities thrive. Lifting each other up without pushing others down in the business world seems to be the norm, but I want to break that stale way of thinking because as I always like to say “The sun shines for everyone.”
And when I am gone from this life, if I was only able to help but one person, then mission accomplished.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello my name is Jackie Silva. I am the founder and owner of Bonita Market Co.
My family and I produce and coordinate monthly market days and other type of events in San Antonio, TX. and the surrounding cities.
We initially started out as vendors but quickly learned that our talents and calling was in planning and promoting local markets and small businesses.
It has been three years since we began this journey and what a blessing it has been thus far.
It truly brings us much joy to hear our vendors announce when they have “Sold Out!” or that they have done very well. Not only are their dreams coming true but they are able to support their families and community. It’s a full circle.
Seeing our markets grow each year is a testament of all the hard work put in by everyone, from promoter, venue, to small business owner, to the customer, supporting all things local.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Show up and support in any way that you can. Sometimes that is by commenting, sharing or word of mouth.
But, don’t just comment to comment. Buy the product or service and give your honest feedback.
When we truly believe in a product, we tell everyone. The hope is that they will also believe in you and recommend you to everyone.
You have to constantly be out there in the socials and networking. Don’t be shy to tell people what you do and how you can help them!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Networking at local events and meeting new vendors at other markets. You have to get out there.
Sometimes getting out there is overwhelming but the reward is great!
Don’t let social media lie to you and make you believe that you need x amount of followers and likes.
By getting out in your community, you will develop strong and trusting relationships. Everything else will grow from there with discipline and consistency.
