We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jackie Pipp a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jackie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
At RSDC I do everything to keep my costs for students and families as low as possible. Our classes are no more than $30 per month and there’s no hidden fees, extra requirements or astronomical costume fees. As well as striving to maintain a full family atmosphere. When you’re here your family not just another tuition being paid. Everyone deserves a chance to dance and to feel at home when they walk in the studio.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I opened my studio with the hopes to break the mold of what dance has been considered to be lately. It has become expensive and stuffy with body and age restrictions. We make sure no matter your age or appearance or financial situation there is always a place for you with us. We offer classes starting for two year olds up to 60+ all performing in the same recital together. Dance should be about having fun, making new friendships and being yourself.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Word of mouth is every small business’s friend. Having students sign a social media release form upon arrival we are able to share pictures and videos from class that show everyone genuinely having a good time. People post things on our social media from events saying how great things went or how much fun they had and we use those to promote the business. Encouraging people to share their experience with you and your business goes a long way, the kind words speak for themselves when people read the reviews and comments.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
In the dance world maintaining an all inclusive atmosphere was important for me. We treat everyone equally the second you walk in that door you are a dancer no matter how much training you’ve had. My reputation relies heavily on that. Everyone wants to be somewhere where they feel appreciated loved and cared for. And at RSDC that is exactly what you get.
